Suborbital flight requirements
I thought you could bring along tourists that wanted suborbital flight on an orbital, or even a Munar mission and still get credit. I thought I did it before, but one didn't take. I thought re-entry would qualify, at least.

sub orbit implies that you have to make full orbit first and then lower your orbit so your about to land, but then pull out of it again

Incorrect.. a sub orbital flight is one that does NOT reach full orbit but one that still escapes the atmosphere. Last time I did a similar contract I did get the credit even though i continued on to a full orbit, mabye there was something else in the contract that needed to be fullfilled?

Where is the contract destination? For Kerbin, it shouldn't be a problem, as you have to go suborbital before you can attain an orbit. That's not true of any other body though.

Maybe you have to shut the throttle and drift for a second or so? I'm just guessing.

The game defines sub-orbital as having your orbit reach out into space (above 70km for Kerbin) and dipping down either into the atmosphere or going below sea level.

Did your tourists have some odd requirement like you need to have them black out from the acceleration?

Don't think so. I've never seen that requirement.

This, you don't change your orbital state (flying/suborbit/orbit/escape) while any engine is on, don't know the reason, but can couse problem if you go from flying to orbit directly, by skipping sub orbit, and if you use the remaining fuel to reduce speed while going from orbtit to reentry and also skipping sub orbit that way.

I just didn't shut down my engine. You have to not be under acceleration for a few seconds while on a sub-orbital trajectory for it to take.

this is really really late but just incase anyone else sees this and is wondering too, make sure you bring transport for the tourists too lol, i forgot about that

It is usually almost impossible to understand what the requirements are for fulfilling the missions. This has made me more or less about to stop playing the game.
I just figured out I forgot to put the tourists in my space ship :steamfacepalm:
Of course the tourist will never be satisfied as the only person in suborbit was our beloved Jeb! And the tourists would be watching from the ground!
