Mods for only aesthetics and sound?
Hello guys,

I don't like to really mod any of my games but I started messing around with CKAN for KSP and, in-game, checked out a ton of mods. After low FPS and some glitches, I decided to remove all mods and reinstall only some.

The only mods I'm looking for is aesthetics and sound. By that I mean what are some good mods that make the game look better and enhance the audio SFX?

Also, for the mods that I have installed, can you tell me if any of them overlap or are not needed?

The VISUAL mods I have are...
- Distant Object Enhancement Real Solar System config + Distant Object Enhancement
- Engine Lighting
- Enivronmental Visual Enhancements
- PlanetShine Default configuration + PlanetShine
- Real Plume Stock Configs + Real Plume
- Real Solar System Textures 8192x4096(I'm running 1920x1080 at 144hz do I need this rez?)
- Realistic Atmoshpheres
- Reentry Particle Effect
- scatterer
- SmokeScreen Extended FX Plugin
- Stock Visual Enchancements (SVE) High Res + SVE: Sunflare + SVE: Scatterer Configs
- TextureReplacer
- VaporVent

The SOUND mods I have are...
- ShipEffects Sound Mod: Dynamic Sound Effects (Maintenance)
- Water Sounds

Sorry for the lengthy post. Also, I don't know how to mess with configs or scripts or anything like that in case that matters.

Thanks in advance,

You don't need Realistic atmospheres and SVE for the real solar system as they won't work with it. Try RVE in that case but it isn't listed on CKAN but rather downloadable in the kerbalforums (http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/index.php?/topic/153511-122-real-solar-system-visual-enhancements-v122-rc2-2016-12-16/) but be aware that I had problems with the 8192x4096 files (KSP kept crashing after shoveling 12 Gigs of Data into RAM). I downgraded to 4096x2098 and couldn't really see a difference. I would also recommend some fairing texturemods and procedural part mods, just for aestetic reasons.

thanks Meltdown this is was the exact answer I was looking! If I download RVE at 4096x2098, should I get rid of all the other CKAN aestetic mods? (i.e., Realistic atmospheres, SVE, scatterer, engine lighting, etc.)

Try "Chatterer".
You can add radio chatter and blips that you can then change in sound, intevals and such.
So you could have the classic "boop.. boop" noise going on if you wanted.
It's really good. I use it.

I recommend using KSPI, atomic rockets and cryo engines. After a while playing with the stock parts the game gets a bit annoying.

I recommend not touching ANY mod containing additional engines ever. They may and will break the game balance. Every engine and planet or moon in default KSP is carefully adjusted to create an experience and challenge curve. Cheating it with modded engines won't make you great at KSP. "Eve engines" is bs invented by loser pilots. And so are many other. Using "real" engines on a 10 times easier world isn't fair either. Games aren't real.

Except you do full reality overhaul with real solar system, but even then it's risky as modders add stuff which is kind of available, but not really yet or their own idea of how powerfull/heavy it should be, etc, etc. So you have to weight out everything for yourself.
I am using these additional parts for a year and I can say that there is no problem with the "swing" of the game, they are very solid and constantly updated mods, I recommend that you visit the forums to see for yourself. Cheaters, losers? Is not the game real? What the hell are you talking about? Lol.

He asked for RSS-related mods that only touch the visuals. The stock engines aren't supposed to even get him out of LEO (13k dV is insanely hard with Stock) but thats a total different story. He can mess around with engine mods once his version is stable and nice looking as most engine parts won't make your savegames invalid, except for those spaceships you allready have out there.

thanks again meltdown. I tried the link you posted but it's dead. I tried looking up which RSS to use and if it is compatible. Can you point me in the right direction?
