Launch clamps will do this as well as decouplers.
Also there are effect volume settings - this will obviously affect other sounds as well. But maybe you can find a setting that prevents you from going def while still providing an enjoyable sound experience.
Since there is no dedicated splashdown-sound-file I doubt that there is anything else that you could do about this with reasonable effort. However there are dedicated files for explosion sounds etc. so if turning down the overall effect volume makes other things not audible enough you could try to edit some sounds manually in order to raise their volume... But beware - KSP updates will likely reset your edits so keep backups.
