How do you test a heat shield at the launch site?
I'm getting a contract to test a heat shield at the launch site. Heat shiels need to be hot to be tested. How the heck do I get it hot enough to test it while at the launch site? Point an engine at it and burn it up?

I honestly have no idea what I'm supposed to do.

Click on it and run a test? That's what most contracts want you to do, it might be the same case with the heat shield.

or maybe build a rocket with a engine facing said heat sheild on a stability enhancer(s) to prevent it from moving

Right Click it, and you should see "Run Test." As long as any other parameters ("Kerbin", "Landed") are checked, should do it for you.

Ah, okay. I get it. I haven't played Kerbil in years and years. They didn't have these kinds of contracts in it last time I played, so I was confused. Thanks!

Are you in a career or science game?

Can you post a screenshot with the job tab open?

Oh, well only about a month old for my statement: I can't seem to find the "Run Test" function. I have a "Jettison Heat Shield" option but no test one. My requirements are to be on Kerbin and on the launch site. Both are green.

EDIT: NVM, I found out what happened. Was attempting to test the wrong size heat shield.
