Kerbal Space Program

KSP Mod Manager?
Hey guys, I've had KSP since the times before Steam, and have always run into an issue where my mods get ♥♥♥♥♥♥ because of an update issue or somthing, is there a mod manager out there, I've tried one and it wasn't very effective, also why isn't there steam support yet for KSP its a rather basic thing now, plus it would only enhance the game, but I'm sure they alreay have thought of that one.

Can't you just make a backup of your mod set?

Why no workshop? Official response is pinned, but I'll copy paste it for you.

"Steam Workshop and Mods

Steam Workshop support isn’t planned.

Kerbal Space Program (KSP) isn’t just available on Steam, and Steam Workshop would only work for people who bought the Steam version.

You can get KSP mods from Curse.[www.curse.com] Anyone can use these mods, including Steam customers, and they’re pretty easy to install[wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com].

KSP mods also use .dll files, and while Steam Workshop can use these files, their flexibility makes it too easy for malicious code to be hidden in a mod, as mentioned here. (thanks manwith noname)

Having discrete downloads with the plugin source available makes it much harder to hide malicious code."

CKAN is the most popular mod manager for KSP I know of.

Install CKAN. It's great. Lists 99% of mods for the game which you can install straight from it, which it then organises into the correct directory for you.
I was so used to manuely managing my mods for years i brown nosed it for some time.
I can tell you past me was a fool.

KSP will never support workshop. The game isn't built to support it, basically it's impossible.

Personally I would like something like KSP MA (dev no longer has time and was burnt out working on the project) more.

It's never really about installing the mods, it's about managing them in an easier manner than download and dump file. Good luck remembering what you have, what you still want and what to update when.

If we were to compare the tools to smart phones, then CKAN is your iPhone, where "you are too stupid to do anything", wheras what is lacking is an Android, where it helps you do things, but you have to do them yourself.

What's wrong with CKAN exactly?

You literally just point and click, couldn't be much easier?

It works almost exactly the same as Nexus mod manager and everyone loves that.

Every time I try to use CKAN these days I get the messagem "not responding" as if it was hung. I wish there was an alternative to it. It may be simple, but too buggy.
