Quake III Arena

Do you recommend converting my game into ioquake3?
I heard that source mod version further enhances the game, while keeping close to the tradition. I also installed the unofficial patch.

Quake3e has a color issue and it turns all characters into my robocop character, Last version of IOQuake3 runs great and supports ultra-widescreen and is not glitchy.

Same Baseq3 etc so Quake3e is an L.

No need to convert you put the files from ioquake3 download into the quake 3 arena folder yes overwrite load ioquake3 done

your settings have forced your character for all players, you have to disable it.

ultrawide screen works the same on both launchers, as is fine in both, just the weapons are too low on the screen

whats this color issue you speak off? you mean it gets a bit brighter?

ioquake base installer doesnt have what it needs to use launch team arena, meanwhile quake3e works right off the bat. so that all said my experience states that quake3e is the better version of quake compared to ioquake3, although they are essentially the same.

I can play the original Q3 binary in OpenGL
r_mode -1
r_customheight = 3440
r_customwidth = 1440

Quake3e requires the above as it's not listing supported from primary adapter.

ioquake scales the interface and the binkplayer window, hud is readable and scaled, supported resolutions are retrieved, 21:9 resolution in other engines has to be custom usually set in my autoexec.cfg.

i dont really understand, but i decided to mess around with ioquakes ingame settings and actually got it set to 3440x1440 in game (it didnt let me choose it the first few times, not sure what made it 'click') managed to get the hud to be proper and at the right ratio (not stretched).
so i stand corrected, ioquake does indeed work better once its all set up..

having a hard time fixing team arena tho, some maps work some dont and give me errors. first i had to install the point release from here

which at least got team arena running, but most the maps give me an error like the following:

to top it off, the hud is messed up like usual. lol just why cant things work properly.

You seem familiar with the console

Anyone else that's interested selecting the resolution is problematic as the Aspect Ratio is listed not as you'd think, cycling through the resolution it self just works on IoQuake3

so after giving up on team arena with ioquake3 along with spearmint, i went back to quake3e and the spearmint hud changes still work AND i can play team arena.... lol.. so i'm back to quake3e for the forseeable future since its working for me
