any hope for a quake 3 remaster

I saw discussion for quake 2 remastered and with the recent release of quake remastered, I think it's reasonable ID will remaster the rest of the quake games.

Honestly it's the kind of game that, in my opinion, don't even need a remaster.
If you want a more modern version of Quake though there's Quake Champions which is actually really great.

But Quake Live I really don't understand, like these sad ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ censored the game... instead of exploding in a mist of blood and huge chunks of flesh the characters just magically disappear... it's so lame...

Just for that I would actually prefer to play Quake 3 Arena instead of Quake Live if you really want to play an old Quake.

Quake 3 remake would be good with easier server making option and more modern stuff. Quake Live is bad and QChampions is even worse.

I just bought the games this weekend, but it seems fairly clear to me that Quake Live's movement is at least slightly different. That being said, I still prefer it because it has a drastically better UI and is a lot easier to get running well.

Yeah I actually bought both, Quake 3 Arena with Quake 3 Team arena and Quake Live.

And well, Quake Live is actually way better to play online, the only reason why I was saying that Quake Live sucks is because these godforsaken sons of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ censored the game :(

But you just have to download the GIBS! mod on the workshop and it fixes this problem, so Quake Live is actually really good then

Damn it's so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pleasant to play this timeless masterpiece online more than 20 years after its original release, almost want to cry :D

idk why you want an remaster of this game? I mean the source code is available to the public. There are also dozen of modern ports of quake 3 like Quake3e with modern vulkan renderer which allows you to play this game even in 4k + texture packs which provides modern textures with higher resolutions.

so theres actually no need to remaster quake 3

and now as i am seeing this. Yes id Software removed the gibs out of quake live. Cuz they want to avoid some troubles with certain countries who don't like seeing violence in media like germany.

but after the steam release the released an addon on the workshop which adds gibs and gore

Quake 2 technically has a remaster with the Quake 2 RTX source port on Steam, you can even play it without the real ray tracing stuff, it's what i've been using.
