Celestial Smith, are they worth the RNG

I ran into my first Celestial Smith in Tyrant's Hold.
8 Ancient Hearts, Blood of Ch'thon, or Tainted Brain Matter seems pretty expensive for an RNG chance to get a Legendary item that odds are will not be something your character can use.

Is it really worth the RNG risk or is it something you do with an ALT, to store for future other characters?

farming totem, SR, and skeleton key are far more effective
use transmute in FG dlc to collect set items

That is all dependent on what rare components you have. If you can afford it, go for it. But if you are low I would not recommend it. Also depends what your definition of low is.

I have 15 each of 1 and 10 each of the other 2.
Sacrificing 8 this early in my game is not a good choice I think. 😊

I did that and I only did that when I have absolutely nothing better. Example, I got trash rings or amulets which doesnt alight with my damage type and is only there because of their added skills, did rng craft in there but then I realized farming Totems are way easier and less grindy compared to crafting random items. You can get decent amount of legendaries and rares just going through totems on maps. I highly recommend those compared to crafting. You will realize those components are kinda annoying to farm later on and would be wise to horde them until you get exact blueprints of what you want.

Used to be more worth in the past. Back when green items weren't that great, SR didn't exist, etc.

They still have a small amount of value in that you can target a general category.
