Also, it bothered me that they have a hard skill cap at 120, but its pretty much unreachable by most people, so most plan build to level 80 or so. Lastly, there was no way to respec you character except for the respec skill points you earn. I understand the concept of being "hardcore" like that, but i just don' have the time to grind that much.
Grim Dawn is very refreshing coming from that, I feel like each level is important. I hope that continues into late game, but for now I am having fun with the immersive world and learning the mechanics.
Regret Orbs
your biulds finish by like lvl 70 pretty much. regret orbs. and it takes like 5 hours to get to 60. So........
I agree with everything but the 5 hours to 60 part.
No. No it does not. Not for any sane, normal person.
PoE isn't really free, try playing PoE without an internet conection.
While you can run to 60 in a day pretty easy...you'd probably already have done so quite a few times first. I can make 20 in an hour race for instance without too much trouble, but you certainly don't do that the first time you play the game.
And yeah, end game varies for people. I'd say 70 is when most stop and try a new build, but the whole time you are playing you get currency and good items that build all your characters power eventually. If you play a bunch, you'll find a few characters you just really love, and you'll run maps with them and continue to level past 70 as well. I didn't do that for a LONG time though...not till after playing well over 30 characters to post 60.
And that is the real kicker about PoE...the huge number of builds and ways you can play characters. Yes....you could use your free skill point resets from quests and orbs of regret to remake a character...and I have done that for some characters that where just no fun/didn't work....but if you do enjoy a character you can always keep it, and make another:) I've made well over 60 non-race characters at this point that I have enjoyed and there are plenty more to try.
Remember, even though PoE has officially launched now, it's still being expanded on constantly. If you tried it even a month ago, there have been like 4 more skills added to the game since then along with a bunch of other changes (to the skill tree nodes etc). The game is constantly expanding and getting better.
Grim dawn..will hopefully be a good game and last for well over 100 hours for many of us, but if you can get into PoE (and I admit..that can be a bit hard at first)...it can last many thouasands of hours. The sadest thing is that many people just play PoE for awhile and don't get a chance to build up decent equipment of any kind....which takes time. You can speed it up with trading, but there isn't a GREAT way to trade right now (you can use the forums etc...but in game trade is crap). Getting decent unique items can totally change the way you play the game, makes many builds possible etc. That can lead to drastically speeding up how fast you kill, especially at higher difficulty levels and maps...and make the game a ton more fun in the process.
Getting there takes time....which I think is probably the biggest flaw of PoE. It's a blast, but not neccesarily right at first....and many people have a very short amount of time they will invest in a game that doesn't pull them in right away.
I think....other then just people enjoying different things, that is the main reason why some people who like AARPGs love PoE...while others can't even be bothered to play it more then a few hours before giving up. There is a HUGE random factor in there as well, since a few lucky drops early on, or which build you start with etc...can drastically change how much fun you have playing the game.
lol, crazybytes still exists
If you played titan quest and liked it then GD is pretty much the same, although the latest patch for GD has been makingi t look a lot better than TQ, poe is free there is no reason not to try it unless you have a internet cap, in which case I would consider getting better internet or suicide.
And there is no coop of any sort yet right?
