High Priest no pay at Sunken Reliquary
Ok, maybe it was just bad luck, and I got a crappy roll, but I have a suggestion.

Here is my story.
My pitiful little 27th level Warlock finally got the 3 dynamite to blow the cave-in in the flooded passage. Now, I knew because you had to wait so long after going thru the passage to get dynamite that there would be a little culture shock stepping from one to the other.

Right off I run into one of the.... err, it is 4am and I don't know the class names, so "elite" will do. Anyway, it is a little battle, about what I expected. Now, I tend to go to the right when exploring a bunch of rooms, so ended going up and around, and ran into two more "elites". They made me use a healing, and scratchd the paint on my hellhound pretty good. But nothing to bad. And boom, there are two beautiful chests. Nice. I think I got a rare belt out of one.

So, at this point I am thinking, hmmmm, 3 kinda tough guys and two chests? Maybe that is it. But I have to see every corner so I keep going in the spiral towards the middle of the reliquary. And there He is. The High Preist.

I just wasn't ready. Sometimes I get so into the battle I forget to watch my healt. Not often but sometimes. And by the time I snap out of it, and find the right key to hit I am dead. Yea, it was those sneaky little bad-@$# knights that pounded me from the side...

So longer story a bit shorter. I only died the once, but he ran me out 6 times, killed my hellhound 3 times, my raven once, I used 16 healths and 9 energys. I mean, I'll kite a lot if I need to, but get totally run out of the area?

And what do I get after this epic beating where the high preist makes me his beeauch!?
A rare tome that is useless, 3 yellows and 3 whites. No iron, nothing else. That is it.

Now I keep telling myself I should count the stuff in the chests before I ran into him. But they were so easy to get to. Go in, turn right, follow the hall until you must turn left, and tada! And you have a couple descent little fights along the way. I mean, the payoff is always After, right?

Just, maybe the chests should be in the room with the High Priest? Or 1 in the hall, and two more with him? I mean, he makes the Warden look like a warm up fight. Or at least have him drop a crappy epic.

TLDR; Please look at the Sunken Reliquary play to payoff order and goodies got and maybe redesign? Unless of course the plan is the player runs in, grabs the chests, and runs out...

The pay off for Sunken Reliquary is kinda like Gutworm the Maneater or even Depraved Sanctuary. All of these are relatively easy to get to as you are traveling through low level enemies.

Compare this to Steps of Torment where you get a gurantee of 2 epics should you clear everything - but you have to travel to SoT which enemies are a lot higher in level then the Act 1 areas, and then you have 3 floors to get through and also the fact that you can't leave SoT 4-5 via riftgate and can't access those levels again should you die.

The risk in SoT is far higher then Sunken Reliquary/Gutworm the Maneater or Depraved Sanctuary. This is why SoT you get more rewards while the other areas are far quicker to clear out and get to.

It also depends on your build and gear so while your Warlock may have issues at this time - perhaps that character will easier clear Sunken Reliquary later on in the future. Advantage to farming SR is the Monster Infrequent item the High Priest can drop, the higher level mobs that can drop high level items/components, and the fact that it's so easy to get to once you use the dynamite.

Awesome reply. Thanks for the hope. Maybe not the optimum, but I think it is an ok build. I am just not finding the gear to deal damage quickly enough.

SoT sounds pretty rough. I am looking forward to it.

My Warlock is my first build so everything is a surprise, and I use him as cannon fodder. The beating doesn't bother me much, just the order I did it threw the joy of the treasure. So, now I know if I want the fight to go there first.

Well, he sometimes drop good stuff(his rare book, for instance, which is a great cold-based/weapon proc item). I once fought the warden and only got 2 yellow items(and a bit of iron), so yeah, sometimes RNG can be a cruel mistress.

The great thing about SR is that it scales to(and beyond) you level for a long time, meaning you can use the area to level up/farm efficiently, if that is your thing.

What level was the high priest btw? I wouldnt be surprised that he made you run away a few times, if he was like 4 or 5 levels above your own.

Yea, I was only level 27... just got enough dynamite, I had just finished the quest to get the assistant her dynamite, came back in to get 3 more.

I have ok armor for my level I think, but have just not found a new weapon for like 6 levels. More bad RNG. I gotta up my farming a bit, something HAS to fall soon.
