How do I get a pet?

Title says it. How do I find or get a pet. I have played the game to the last it can be played to so far and I have yet found out when or how to get a pet.

The occultist skill tree allows you to summon 2 different pets. In addition, some rare items will allow you to summon pets.

Occultist, Demolitionist, Nightblade have pet skills.

Occ - Hellhound / Storm Spirit Raven
Demo - Mortar / Thermite Mines
NB - Blade Spirit

You can also find items that give pets as well - we may also see a more summon based mastery in a future expansion.

I think he probably meant pets that last as long as they don't get killed, like the Hellhound.

Currentl the only real pet you can get reliabilly are the Raven and Hellhound from Occultist (the rest are timed summons or require rare item skills)

Update to this thread: I found out that I allready have one the Mortar, but was thinking in terms of animals and not summoned skills.

Occulist only has 2 pets, some skills like the mortar count as pets, only for item bonuses, but they are not actually pets. The items for extra pets, are very rare i believe

On one of my characters I found 2 of that ring that gives the temporary tank pet on being hit. Woulda been really nice if the character hadn't been a tank.

Occultist is the only mastery with permenant pets (that are kinda like animals). You can get items that also give temporary or permenant pets. Grimoire of Ognepesh, Blightshard Amulet, and Savagery Relic are the items you can use for permenant pets (at the moment with this level cap).

Thanks guys, I have a pet now that looks like a frog and have no ideal how I got it. It just shows up every once in a while and then disapears. Does notseem to do mush damage, but kind of preaty to look at. Took some video of it and will be posting it on my youtube acout and then hear.

Sounds like one of your rings.

Pets wont do a whole lot of damage unless you have a good amount of pet gear(boosting their damage and attack rate), or if it is a skill, that you rank the skill up a bit(and it's upgrades).

A build that is fully focused on pets and utility is viable.

Marrow band ring is the one that gives you that tempory guardian . But a pure pet builder myself i dont bother with the band or sallies blades .Blightshard has a 1 minute cooldpown is very handy as armour and shield breaker /Savagery pet stormhound is also well worth grinding for .Max bonds/lightning strike on the crow and have 3-4 levels on hellhounds stinky breath attack you cover most defenses of mobs/champions/bosses to break very well ..

Mind if i ask where is the best location to grind ? I have been all over had some decent luck but alot of the same drops i see these killer items makes me crazy 0_o

The dread skulls for the savgery relic takes the longest to farm /gallstones easy drop from harpies/ mistborn/troll club easy to farm in smugglers passage/jagged wastes the only area with manticores for eyes/dep sanctuary is easy to farm for blood /the other empower relics needed seem to drop frequently if you farm any given area .

Any mob between 43-48 in solo play can drop the skulls now but sunken relq has never /ark u.c. doesnt scale over 39 but can be good mat/relic bp's.They upped the drop rate for higher end materials in the previous build plus adding to level cap massively ups the scaling in solo for the skulls to drop compared to pre 40 you need to have m.p. to scale .
