They only want to raise the dead, which saves lives (zombie cannon-fodder ftw) and probably might know how to break the spells bring atherial's creations to life. Providing a means to deprive the atherials of their main forces, if not at least provide more damage against atherial corruptions and the undead.
Kymon's Chosen on the other hand are subservient to an elder god thing, and are religious fanatics to boot. As Lovecroftian horror (re-reading Charles Stross's awesome Laundry novels at present) has taught me, trust not religious cults, especially one's with previously unknown gods. Though I'll side with them once and once only on one of my more fire damage dependent builds.
This 2 new faction sounds a lil similiar to me. Necromancers being the spellcasters, while the zealots/holy warriors would be the Chosen guys. So yea, since I'm playing an arcanist, it's obvious I want them spellcaster bonuses, therefore I chose the Necros.
I didnt think of that .. good point.. i chose arcane because i figured better to fight fire with fire then steel. Has anyone tried the old guy and checked to see what he forges? im going to this next play through now that you got me thinking
Thus if their founder were to reappear and order them to cease their struggles, I suspect much of the Order would not follow unless compulsion spells were used on them when they were recruited that force them to follow his words. But given his abilities, he would make for a most fearsome enemy...
[edit - used invasion instead of inflitration, Aetherial's likely had been working for quite some years to inflitrate the empire and gain control of key personal]
And that really does all sound conceivable as well.. so its a crap shoot as to who would be most worth the risks involved.. armed fighters well trained who believe themselves guided by an omnipotent higher power (alittle too close to reality today) or Necromancers who do seem to have a "code of ethics" as odd as that may sound.. I am going Necro.. I am more concerned with self rightous religious zealots than dark masters of reanimation.. Illuminati comparison forced into hiding after persecution taken in to account I feel for them to a degree.. lets hope your wrong about Uroborook :)
Dead god? Imprisoned god! Repent heathen!
I noticed that when you choose a side the other side hates you in the faction reputation window. Also, one of the ways to gain reputation for either faction is to kill members of the other one. So conflict between the two sides seems inevitable.
The thing I'm curious about... is how it will work out in multiplayer. If two people who picked opposite sides play together.... what happens when they encounter members of one of the factions?
Best experienced with PvP enabled. ;)
The factions will be hostile to whichever of the two pissed them off, while the other can do nothing to help (allies and all). You can create some interesting PvP situations though if you encounter both groups fighting each other and you have players that support both sides.
Ha ha. Thanks for the answer I really appreciate it. Wasn't expecting a Crate response to my curiousity there.
Sounds like it could be a load of fun. Bloody friendship ruining fun, but fun nonetheless.
