Need help with Aether Ray resistances.

Hey,

I started playing this char again, my most "advanced" one. Before you ask, no, I've never reached 100 in Grim Dawn, and neither did I in Titan Quest. My highest in the latter was 89 or close to that.

In Grim Dawn, this is my highest char. My damage is pretty good, or at least I like to think it is lol. But my defence, really isn't good at all.

This is the char.

As you can see, I have some really big issues with certain resistances. I tried a lot of things, my friend helped me too, but there's always one or two res that aren't good.

And since you can't deal damage when you're dead, I'm trying to patch those res so that I stop getting deleted by certain attacks.

So I'm asking you: What can I do to fix this problem?

PS: I bound my skills to QWERTY and use W for the Aether Ray, that's why the skills are placed like that.

are you honoured or revered with any factions ? if so you can buy and use resist augments to help plug holes

likewise you can buy factions armour to help on some slots, like black legion's/rovers etc boots
you're also using radiant gem in your offhand which is kinda, not good, you could easily switch that to Imbued silver to cover bleed and chaos res
*no armour augments used, but swapped ring augments

if you're revered with any base game faction and have access to armour augments or level 50 jewelelry augs it's probably gonna be a fair bit easier to fix

I'm not sure what level I am at currently with factions.

Will check next time I play.

The fixed version you posted looks indeed much better lol.

I'll definitely swap the offhand relic and rings then!

Edit: And the weapon too.

I think it will lower my damage a bit, but again: You can't deal damage when you're dead lol.

you have many ways to bring up resistances, divotions, augments, armor.
All your damage is useless if you cant survive some hits.
No 1: resistances first than you can look for more damage

Yep, that's very true!

With my current setup sometimes I get one shot randomly, not even sure what kills me lol.

Ah crap, some of those items you suggested are MIs.

I have barely played anything, campaign wise, on Ultimate with this char, I went straight to the Crucible.

Crucible is, at least in my opinion, the best part of this game, it's super fun. So I skipped the campaign in Ultimate as much as I possibly could and went straight to Crucible lol.

I guess it's time for me to finally complete the campaign to access those MIs!

you can still get those pants in crucible, it's just RNG, where as in campaign you can get a 100% drop 😅

also keep in mind you don't get skill point quests or faction rep in Crucible, Revered rep especially being vital for augments later at 90++

I guess I really need to play the campaign then.

Where do I get the glyph I had on my medal? I forgot lol. The teleport is quite handy sometimes so I'd like to put it back on it.

that specific one you had there is crafted from blacksmith
you can buy a lower tier one in conclave of the tree faction merchant/quartermaster for Cult of Dreeg

Random newbie comment: there are lots of components that you can put on gloves (wrappings) that will provide various resistances. Pretty sure there's one for vitality. The restless remains you have there now seems weak compared to everything else you have.

Similarly on the pants, molten skin seems weak, there should be something better.

And most importantly, your total HP seems low. HP is the resistance of last resort!

I use the component on the glove for the casting speed. In my case, casting speed = Survivability.

I swapped the one on the pants yeah, was way over max for fire res anyways.

My health is probably fine, you likely looked at the char without the buffs turned on.

Edit: 11k with buffs.

No, it is not, 15k at lvl 100 is bare minimum in modern standard

I have time to find items that will boost my health further. I don't have access to level 94 items yet.

Oh, i for any reason thought that you are already 100
