Avatar of Mogdrogen
I managed to repair his altar but I notice that he is somewhat self-centered and he gives me dialogues to fight against him.

That false god has made me angry since he does not really consider his people.

I want to fight him but I do not want to enter into conflict with his faction.

What happens if I fight and win against Avatar of Mogdrogen.
Will it take away my reputation or his people?

Do I gain anything by defeating that conceited false god?
I call him a false god since he was only a titan servant of real gods who later proclaimed himself god as I understand it.

Any advice for the confrontation?

You gained shroud of Mogdrogen, unique shoulder armor with huge bonuses to any electro-pets build

Avatar is uberboss so if you are not prepared he could (and will) kills you instantly

If you don't want to die too quick you need 80% and at least +80% in overcap lighting resistance as well as 80% to stun resistance because he constantly will stuns you with all of his lightning

Never stay in his thunderstorm cloud because cloud apply sunder on you, and it's sunder from ultra bosses so it more powerful than any other sunder effect in game

My guess is if you have to ask, you are not ready ;]

But try it anyway.

Advice? He's a damn powerhouse.

And as far as I know, it doesn't affect your faction reputations. As for gains - bragging rights and chance for his shoulder slot item.

No worries, your reputation won't suffer if you defeat him. If he's just a false god, you can easily strike him down and show him why he should not pretend he's a god.

NOTE: Disregard this advice if you are playing on Hardcore, he'll wipe the floor with you within seconds.

Avoid the fight for now. Read some lore about him, he's not what he seems. Ulgrim and Mogdrogen are the closest allies the protagonist has in Grim Dawn.

I wanted to know if I lose the reputation of his followers.

I try to give him what he deserves for being a big mouth.

I know Ulgrim is an ally but Mogdrogen has a big mouth.
If I defeat him, he won't get angry or anything, right? According to him, with his tiny little bit of power, he can turn me into mush.

I hope he's a good loser and continues to support me lol I'm very attached to the story of the game and each note I hope he doesn't get angry about that little disagreement.

As far as I know, he's not even a real god after all, just a self-proclaimed titan, and not to mention that his people don't interest him.

I'm not sure I know anything about future lore, this is my first game.

Remember the game goes hand by hand by the lore notes.
https://forums.crateentertainment.com/t/grim-dawn-lore-notes-pdf-and-ebook-epub-new-update-1-1-9-0/50203/

If I remember correctly Mogdrogren warns people about the Grim Dawn or something but they don't listen . And he also warns people about certain Guild of the game which is not what it seems at first hand (you might be closely related to it)

If you really care about the story you have real lore notes in order for maximum understanding as some are really hard to find or might be hidden in hidden parts of the map!
After many alts, I challenged him on Elite with one of my lvl 70 alts.

The hardest part isnt the Avatar himself.......even if the level difference was unexpected(I thought he would be like 5 levels above me. Nope. Lvl 114)
It's the billion summons he spams that zerg rushes you till kingdom come(and they're the same level as him). I dont have enough DPS to handle all of them.

I don't think many of the gods in Cairn would qualify as "real" then... I think most are Titans or even mortals who ascended to godhood, others are eldritch abominations worshipped as gods. Would the Great Old Ones from the Lovecraftian mythos be considered gods?

That's a good point.
I discovered another false god and it was totally heartbreaking and even though humanity needs faith to keep going I became part of a huge lie.

In a dialogue you ask Mogdrogren if he was ever human and he gets angry so that tells me the answer.
