Choice is yours. Whichever you prefer.

I mean, yeah, but what's the point of playing... while the lore is insanely good I don't think you play this game for the story... it's more of a your adventures managing your own ideas and beating challenges up ahead on your own (that's more fun imo).

The baseline for viable builds in GD is significantly larger than other arpg's. You don't need to play the top 5% builds to do everything the game has to offer, unless you want to do it slightly faster.

Also, most of the top builds follow a specific formula, which is fine, but if you want to play something outside of that formula, there are plenty of viable options. That formula, btw, is stacking flat damage, life leech, and speed.

Pet builds, cooldown builds (skyshards), dot builds are all viable, even though generally they aren't in the top of the top builds.

Honestly, no. I recommend going in blind. You can't really screw anything up, so it's worth experimenting, and most importantly you will learn a lot about mechanics that way.

Following the build will make the game too easy and boring. Just play the game, do whatever feels right, if you struggle then it's time to look into builds or to ask questions and try to understand that.

Game is designed to be played multiple times, with multiple characters, so there's no rush to make the perfect one on the first try. Doing first "perfect" build just makes it frustrating when you then try to make something on your own and it won't work as well as you are used to.

I went in blind and I regret nothing. ONLY ADVICE I would give a new player is put 1 - 2 points in masteries every time you level up.

Ngl the role is really good, even for the simple note that scattered everywhere I really like to read that, yeah I'll go blind and not following any guidelines for now

Ok I'll not following any build for this run
Thanks for the insight

I really don't see the point in playing an ARPG if you're just going to let someone else do the interesting part of the game for you.

Actual gameplay is often just holding down the mouse button. The whole point of the genre is creating builds.

You can always reset, if you had a rough idea you can always try theorycraft your build if not you can follow whatever guide and tweak along the way that suit your fancy, best of both world =)

Following (or trying) the builds is new layer of fun after you enjoyed your first playthrough(s). Optimized builds are mostly for farming and challenge zones (ie for farming too).

I'd say: play the character you like and ask here for advice if you struggle to much or if the build doesn't perform the way you think it should. Which will hardly happen on normal.

PS: Respecs are dirt cheap, you can't ruin the character and are free to experiment yourself.
