Changes to options/settings not saving since 1.2 update
I tried unticking the day/night cycle but it ignores it and sets it back instantly. Same goes for remapping key binds.

Looks like a bug on the new version. Probably needs a hotpatch from Crate.

If settings are not saving, then the game is unable to access the options.txt file.

This is either a file permissions issue, or an issue with software such as antivirus.

Well it's been working fine for years until v1.2 was released, so I think it's fair to say it's a bug in this release! It's got nothing to do with my antivirus.

Well I'm afraid it won't be hotifxed because the issue needs to be addressed on your system.

It is literally something on your system blocking the game from accessing its files, regardless of whether you had a problem before or not.

dev isn't bullshitting you, these things/options not saving has been known for a long time before 1.2 even, and as you can see here some get if fixed by the usual means

Looking around, lots of people are having problems changing option settings since v1.2, This is clearly a problem with the release and not people's systems.

You got me, I'm just trying to avoid work and there is just no way I could be telling you what the fix is.

An official game update that requires customers to go rooting around deleting game files to function properly? That's disappointing if true.

you mean like how your PC/system might detect "something is changed/new/different"on your system, then block access to said file and requiring it to be "clean"/remade before it's accepted? 😐
Zantai  [developer] Nov 16, 2023 @ 12:44pm
Deleting files should not be necessary, but correcting file permissions or ensuring other software is not interfering with the game happens and the only fix then is on the user end.

For example, some antivirus programs are very aggressive and will delete .exe files of updated games because they are "foreign". That can't be hotfixed by the developer.

That doesn't make any sense - my PC isn't blocking access to any of the files.

You're acting as if every person's PC responds to a major game update in the same exact way. Unfortunately, technology is complicated and things can and do mess up for some obscure reasons that can sometimes make me lose my ♥♥♥♥. In this case, the settings have been saving just fine for me since 1.2 launched, and somebody provided a fix for you. No need to throw Crate under the bus for something they have little to no evidence for.

Well I was going to buy the expansion but if the developer wants to be an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ then I am not giving them another cent. I originally came here because I cant save my hotkey settings either. Saying its permissions is idiotic.

it's very simple, if your PC wasn't preventing access: the game could interact with the settings file and save those changes
since it can't, it means it can't access and overwrite that file "and something is preventing it"
again, this is a "common" thing for a handful of people, which is why both devs and users know the cause *and* the fix(es), because it's always handful of stuff at play

Gamers when developers act like people and don't coddle their fans with praise and fix every problem they have immediately:

look at the link and how people are responding it works
now google or search the forum and find similar occurrences in the past for other users sometimes regardless of patch update
this is why we've come to the reason for the various fixes that exist by simple trial and error....
