2) look at the item's level requirements
3) find an area with heroes/bosses at or 5 levels above the item's level.
4) Farm, farm and farm until all parts of the set drop.
Basically there's a bias in the loot code that increases the chance of set pieces to drop if you already have a part of the set in your character's inventory. Not that'll save you from farming hardcore though. Or having certain items drop constantly.
Or you could save time and go to the dev's forums and post in the item trading thread :P
So now I'm dual wielding two Outlaw's Retribution. I do have a number of epic (blue) pistols ... the Slugger, Orwell's, Storm Charged and Justice ... but Retribution looks like the best, at least so far. (All of this gear I found in random treasure drops around level 30-35, on Veteran level, btw).
Mind you, having all 4 items of the set would probably move Justice up to top slot as far as pistols go.
Edit: Oh, and sorry, but I really can't recall where they dropped. It's been a while.
Is this true? It's the first I'm hearing of it, so I doubt it, but it's still worth an ask.
Not true afaik. Drop tables I've seen and everything else I've read mentions nothing of this.
That info is old as hell for this game anyway - July 2015. I sometimes wonder if forums for some games would be better off if threads from old enough patches were just locked automatically. :/ I hate misinformation.
My 4 guys are wearing bits and pieces of several sets, and I haven't noticed any such thing. Well, except for Perdition; I have duplicate pieces of 4 of that set's components ... but they aren't actually wearing any of them!
By inventory, do you mean actually worn, or just in storage?
I seriously doubt this is a thing ... sounds like an Urban Myth to me ... but you never know. Odd glitches can sneak into programs, or it might even be done by design.
