Force Move Is messed up
I have to hold both "force move" and "move" buttons to actually move somewhere while ignoring enemies and objects. "force move" hotkey alone does nothing which is annoying.

This is a solved problem in multiple arpgs, I think we can learn from them.

Use the classic move or target in the options.(dont remember exact name)

I am using that... not sure what that has to do with anything. It doesn't change the fact that the "force move" hotkey literally does nothing on its own

It's a modifier key just like SHIFT to hold position. I remapped mine to CTRL so I just hold that when I want my mouse to be force move.

Alright that is what's wrong in my opinion. Force move should be a key that moves your character for you without you having to hold down the mouse. So i could rest my hand on the spacebar and my char would just move. This is how I've seen it implemented and it's nice because it only involves one button press instead of two.

Yea that's not how it works in most games, like this one, it's a modifier...I could tell you to stop being lazy and all...but meh, I'd just remap it to the side button on my mouse so I could 1 hand it if I wanted to be lazy...

diablo 3 and path of exile do it the way i described and they are arguably the most popular arpgs that are similar to grim dawn.
Craiden Sep 20, 2015 @ 9:16pm
Pretty sure it's a modifier, I have both games...
RTBear Sep 20, 2015 @ 9:16pm
then you should check again

edit: anyway i should have mentioned i prefer one button implementations for less stress on hands/fingers

I'll pass considering I uninstalled battle.net because of how easy D3 became 3 months after release and even a year later, just stupid easy compared to previous games and others like this. Only reason I may ever reinstall it is for the new xpac for sc2...

OP to get what you want you need to combine Force move & Move keys.

Have you tried binding and using the "Move to" command to your skill bar or mouse buttons?
Masoot Sep 21, 2015 @ 4:41pm
Yeah it can be rebound to whatever key you like pressing. Almost all gaming mice and keyboards allow for programmable key binds as well so you can just have it 'press' both buttons for you. What do you do with the SHIFT key and how hold position works? You need two buttons for that as well so I fail to see the problem. The total amount of time you will need to use the Force Move is so minimal I can't forsee more than a few seconds of having to hold an extra key over the course of an entire playthrough.

I like this implementation much better, it's more intuative to have it as a modifier. But I won't be able to convince you otherwise so you'll have to use one of the workarounds people have suggested.

There's a reason for this. If you're playing using the standard GD targeting not the "Classic Targeting" and are used to moving around and attacking automatically with LMB, but you want to be able to toggle to ignoring targets with the "Force Move" key but not move unless you click the LMB, you need them to be separate. This way the moment you release the "Force Move" key when you're moving, you'll attack anything under your mouse pointer automatically without clicking again.

The "Move To" button that can be mapped to LMB & RMB or an empty hotkey slot is almost exactly what you appear to be looking for, but it doesn't completely ignore targets, perhaps if there was a "Force Move To" key that both moved and ignored targets and could be mapped to any key or mouse button it would be what you're looking for. Would that suffice without changing the current "Force Move"?

I have "Force Move" mapped to my space bar and use it exactly how I described in my first paragraph.
