Changing pieces from same set

Havent played in like 3 years and i dont remember:(
Is it possible to exchange pieces with the inventor to a craftable piece from the set. Or are those excluded?

I hope I understand your question:

If you craft any set piece, you can transmute it to another legendary set item of either the same set, or another craftable set at the inventor.

I'll be more specific. I want Mythical Light Defenders helm. I dont have a recipe for it. But i have other spare pieces of Mythical Light Defender Set. Question is, can i exchange them to the helm? (because helm is craftable, so it part of the exchange pool?)

Right, I see :) I'm not 100% sure about that actually - but pretty certain you can transmute your spares into the helm even if you haven't learnt the helm recipie. Just make sure you've selected the option to transmute into an item of the same set.

With the Forgotten Gods expansion, inventors become able to exchange one piece of an item set for another random piece of the same set. The ability is unlocked for all inventors after completing the side quest The Tome of Eanatum for Kargon.

Transmuting cost:

• 1 × Polished Emerald
  
• 3 × Aether Crystal
  
• 1 × Eldritch Essence
  
• 120,000 Iron Bits
