How good is this game to start in the end of 2024?
I understand that this is purely subjective and I will check the game myself anyway - I already own it back from 2016 and this is not a question if I should buy it or not. I just want to hear some opinions from people who is playing now how this game is holding up to the time.
For the context: I did not play any Diablo past pre expansion D3, I have some decent hours in Last Epoch and I did not like the complexity and vagueness (in terms of how anything works and what I should do) of the PoE, so I never play PoE much.
Or to put my question differently: is this game mostly for people alredy in it or it is good for a fresh starter too? I would also appreciate an advice on what expansion are required to get good experience.

It's good for beginners too though you will need to learn how the game works of course.

Both expansions add to the game, but if you can only afford one atm then get Ashes since Forgotten Gods requires it along with the base game.

I consider myself a fresh starter who started not too long ago; I was quickly addicted and it's not a typo when people say "This is certainly the very best ARPG I've ever played!"

Having played original D2+LoD expo, D3, PoE, and many other mainstream or Korean ARPGs, I am sure as Bysmiel's Tears 😭 that this may be the ultimate ARPG game I've been looking for!

This game doesn't have season passes or whatever marketing strategies modern games use to try to get you to constantly play. You can pick it up at any time.

I have so many hours in this game because I keep coming back now and then to create a new dude. There are so many classes and items, there is always something new to try. There is some repetition, of course. The same campaign, some skills functionally overlap, etc. Still, there is enough variety to keep things fresh for a long while.

It's a realy fine game. There's nothing wrong with it.
I personally feel that you can get to an end with it at a point. It takes a fair amount of hours though to reach it. As for the expansions you might want both Ashes of Malmouth as Forgotten gods. Both add to the story , add possible character combinations and content to play through.

If you played a ton of Last Epoch, Grim Dawn is fairly similar.
Imagine you can smash together any of the two Specialist skill trees together. Like Lich and Falconer or something like that.
That's basically how masteries work in Grim Dawn.

Instead of Affix shards you get Components, which attach to items and give you bonus skills. So you can pick two melee masteries and still have access to ranged abilities.

Devotions are the only thing that might seem a bit intimidating, but the individual points don't really matter on their own. So rather than looking at it like a bunch of tiny nodes, just look at the while constellations, then it's way easier to figure out your unlock path.

The pace of the game definitely picks up after Act 1 & 2. It's a bit slow until about lvl 30, then you'll be clearing through maps about the same speed as you would in LE.

i go for 1080p with my 4K Tv up to 144Hz because the written Item things are too small. With an eye to the energy consumption i am fine with 60Hz.
