Best Weapon Type Question
Thanks to advice on this forum, I was able to beat the Elite level for the first time. I am using a Shaman with a dual-wield melee weapon.
But my favorite character remains the Soldier, I have usually used a one-handed melee weapon with a shield, and tried two handguns one time. I always beat the Normal level, but never the Elite.
What type of weapon set-up is the best? The two-handed melee set-up (accompanied by the appropriate skills armor, and Devotion points) is surprisingly powerful.
Does anyone think that there is a better set-up for the Soldier?

Uhm for shaman 2h is no doubt the best choice. But are you only talking about single mastery, or shaman+soldier combo? In any case i'd vote for 2h. Brute force adds physical/lighting to your 2h attacks, and if you decide to use savagery it has a mutator that adds extra bonuses for 2 handers. And of course you'd best take kraken devotion if you go 2h.

If we are talking about highest DPS; then I would say 2H warder or DW blademaster. I got a 2H warder build which has roughly 260k dps with procs. But I think the most damage inflicted at a single time are with the warlord/witchblade retaliation builds for obvious reasons.

No real "best" weapon. Just a best weapon for each build.

2handed soldier is great for forcewave and blade arc, crap for cadence. Dual wield soldier works well providing you can get dual mindwarps or reavers claws and make the appropriate class combo. Can always go Belgothian set + nightblade and make a total DPM beast. Soldier + shield is pretty much the cornerstone of retaliation builds. Most soldier based builds I've seen perform fairly close to eachother, except cadence since its generally a underperforming skill

Thank you for all your replies. Schnitzel Truck, why do you believe that Cadence is an inferior skill?

Also retaliation is terrible to level up. I gave up at level 40 and i had full twink gear and all. I have no patience for that ♥♥♥♥. I heard retal is decent at high levels but i don't really care :p

Its only inferior if you care about end game clear speeds. If you dont care about that (which few do) then it's perfectly acceptable.

Cadence suffers from the fact it only works on the 3rd hit, which makes it very weak when using weapons with low attack speed like 2 handers and also weak when using WPS skills as it doesnt interact with them like Firestrike or Righteous Fervor. It also has terrible AoE unless you dual wield reavers claws. Both those combined means very slow clearing speed compared to nearly every other skill you could use. It's single target DPS isnt anything crazy to offset the lack of AoE so it's generally used on autoattack builds that lack any alternative.

very true.. but with ForgottenGods it´s much better, Oathkeeper made offensive Retaliation quite the FUN ^^

I played warlord and i didn't see the fun part, like i said maybe it's at the higher levels. But playing retal builds feels just so unresponsive and passive for me, i doubt i'd never find it fun.
