Is it worth mixing occultist and shaman class.
Until this patch is hasn't really been worth mixing occultist with anything else if you wanted to go full on pets. (due to the level cap). Now with the much higher level cap and looking at the shamans pet, is it worth mixing the two just to get the extra pet? Also does the 2h shaman specility complement the occultist?

It worth it.
And only 2 Shaman skill trees require 2 handed. The other skills can be used with anything.
The Briarthorn and Primal Spirit (aka. Manticore) are very powerful and Primal Bond buff the pets almost as much as Bysmiel's Bond does.

The Briarthorn look like a very powerful pet, and I noticed by using an occultist during an earlier playthrough where I found an item that gave me a third pet made a huge difference due to the buffs from both the hellhound and the stormcrow. So I was thinking that a 4th pet with even more buffs would create a veritable wall of meat for the enemies to wade through.
My Conjuror has been using 5-7 Pets
5 permanent ones - Raven, Hellhound, Stormhound, Briarthorn and Revenant of Og'Napesh
Very, very few enemies can made it through them alive.
And out of the five, I think the Briarthorn is the best tanker.

shaman + occu = vital damage build

I have only just restarted so am low level, I will have to throw a few levels into shaman to grab the briarthorn. I just hope that the game doesn't do the same thing as titan quest did and have the last boss monster do a massive area effect ability that instantly unsummoned all your pets.

Can I ask where you got the other two?

I'm running my first playthrough as a Conjurer and I'm blown away at how powerful the pets can be. I've put points into them and geared accordingly but a lot of my points are put towards dishing damage via 2H.

I have been able to, on many occasions, take a back seat and summon a dust devil and watch as the Hound, the Raven and the Briar take on mobs 4 levels higher than me.

Revenant of Og'Napesh can be summoned if you're using a Black Grimoire of Og'Napesh, a cater off-hand. He is tough, he can buff you and other pets in your gang and he has a skill that shoot fire all around him. However, he is slow as hell and looks too much like a Skeleton Knight, which spooked me quite a few time and lost me quite a few Doombolt when I'm in an Undead Dungeon.
Stormhound (basically a reskinned Hellhound with lightning instead of fire) can be summoned via the relic Savage.

So if it is a caster offhand that may make the 2h aspect of the shaman not so crash hot. I thought I remember seeing "savage". Is it linked to the blacksmith quest? I decided to take the old blacksmith this time around, I am not sure if that was such a good idea.

My other pet was a spitting bug of some description, he was linked to an epic item but I can not remember which one.

If you've gone 2H, you shouldn't go for Og'Napesh. It's also quite useful to be able to handle yourself in melee.
And Savage isn't involve with the blacksmith quest. It's blueprint drop randomly.

Well I was looking at trying the eye of dreeg spell again but I am not sure if that mixes with the good 2h shaman abilities. It helps to have a 2h weapon as it is based on raw weapon damage. But when given the choice of more damage for myself or another pet, I will go for another pet 90% of the time.
Then, if you happen to find the Black Grimoire, you can switch to using Eyes of Dreeg. Otherwise, keep using 2H.

I had the same problem when I first tried a modified 2H summoner with Briarthorn didnt work, died too much. Im using Og'Napesh, found a legendary 1H black scourge with nice pets mods. Also dont forget curse of frailty. At the moment my pets are on +61% hp and +211% dmg and I can still defend myself with maxed Solael's Witchfire and Savagery that has 5 points at the moment

Also under devotions. Ive attached Ulzuin's Torch meteor shower skill to my Briarthorn. I find it a very nice crowd control skill and at the speed it hits, plenty meteors falling

I haven't done much with the devotions, I just filled my first constellation and am about to enter the wardens cellars. I am having no trouble with the 2h build right now, but I have put every stat level up into physique so I have max health and max damage with it as well as being able to wear any armour and use any heavy weapons I want to.

No look go for it, im sure you will do better than me with the 2H build
