Is it worth getting it?

It's an "okay" skill. The only damage it does is the contact damage. When the missile splits, it doesn't hit the initial target.

I think I'll focus on Sky Shard instead.

Sky Shard does a lot of damage, but the cooldown can be annoying lol

PRM is good against large groups of enemies, which is most of the game, but the damage is low on single targets. Ideally, you want to combine it with something else which is good against single targets.

Keeping in mind that the entire skill line is 52 points AND you want to pick up extra skills to support it, you are very tight on skill points.

PRM is not necessarily bad, but it has a lot of obstacles to overcome. And, it competes against Aether Ray, which is usually just straight up better. More damage, less skill points, destroys both groups and single targets.

Sky shard isn't bad. That was one of my first builds, and it was able to do everything on HC. Including a gimmicky secret boss.

my main core character is a panetti machine-gun caster, I think goes well with the inquisitor

My first time doing all the bosses on hardcore was with a skyshard character. I still used panetti's as spammable until I had enough CDR to use skyshards often enough to drop it. Takes awhile and gear to get there though.

PRM would do better to imitate Arcane Torrent from Diablo 3; because it won't collide with uneven ground and really piss you off using it over AAR... which has a lessened problem with the same problem that they both have.
Sky Shard needs to be a channelling spell or, a chance to trigger spell, that links with a main skill of your choice.

None of it is being changed or being improved because many other aprg developers seem to lean toward being a c* and Crate still look great.
I really wonder, what's the innate connection between sales and PRM performance?

Wow you mean the majority of the sales are from people who only want to play with that skill,. Well blow me down with Blitz and bash me on the head with Cadence. Wasn't aware it was so popular :)

I think the original idea behind the skill line was to use it against regular enemies, then use something like devastation on bosses. Which still works, of course.

Once and a while I get the stupid idea to make a PRM character, then somewhere around mid levels I remember why I gave up last time. It just feels terrible to invest 52 skill points and then have Ulgrim heal faster than you can damage, or fall asleep waiting for Loghorrean's hp bar to go down. And sure, devastation. But then it feels like you are just waiting for the next cast of devastation and those 52 skill points aren't doing anything.

I'd like to see the skill changed where it is a reverse savagery. A stacking debuff on an enemy. Maybe one part adds -1% elemental/aether per stack, up to -20%. Another part adds -10 defensive ability, up to -200.

The core idea behind the skill wouldn't change. You would still want to pair it with another skill. Though this way there'd be more incentive to use PRM instead of something else, like AAR and devastation.

as said above, panetti's weakness is its poor single target damage, even on contact from the initial missile. it is good for clearing large packs but eventualy prove lacking in higher difficulty.

it is reliable up till elite, but once you hit ultimate, you want something else, even with solid gear.

sky shard is a better trade off once you hit ultimate, even before doing so.

the only way to make panetti balanced for ultimate/SR farm is via modding.

although panetti has no cooldown, it is unwise to try and spec an entire character's rotation solely on this skill alone, a shame i'd agree since the skill is pretty much fun, but vanilla would not have you further fun once a certain difficulty spike reached.

although it cna be understood that the game never designed a single class to be played with only 1 skill from its tree
