Best soldier second class?

Picked soldier for melee and for the second pick I would like something that focuses on ranged like demolitionist. But what is the best second pick for soldier in general?

If you want ranged then probably Demo. Melee could be Oathkeeper or Demo. Note that you don't usually mix melee and ranged, you go one or the other.

you can't make a bad choice with Soldier, so pickwhatever second class you like if that class has something in it you think is interesting/looks fun
Soldier is kinda this universal class that happen to fit well with anything and everything
strong melees are Shaman, Oathkeeper, Nightblade, Necro,
strong ranged is Oathkeeper, Demo, Inquis, Necro
not that other options are necessarily bad, ex being Arcanist pairs well with Soldier for Blade Arc melee because of a specific endgame set massively boosting the combo, so you can't always just dismiss things on appearance just because perhaps it initially seems less fitting

I made a warder, so soldier shaman. reflect build. So short version: hitpoints hitpoints hitpoints, resistances and anything wih reflection damage (devotion is hp first, then reflect and shield).

direct damage is bad, but that not the goal. Hp = 43.000 and max ever reflect damage is 451.000. Very fun build. if you do, focus also on disrupting your enemy, so a warcry with fear, kkor that belt which spreads vines. The less they attack, the less damage you get, the faster you heal. on ultimate i rarely see my healthbar move....

I made a Commando. My goal was to have gun-slinger that could also serve as tank as needed. I thought I went about this right as after I filled out my few primary demo skills I put everything else into military conditioning and shield training in hopes that it would raise my Commando's defensive prowess. Perhaps in some cases they are rather resilient especially against the elements, but certain types of attacks still cause them to utterly melt.

I raised the pierce up to 39% from -17% and I believe everything else on the bottom row is between 35-65.

Any combo works well with soldier, but if you want range, some are easier than others.

Demo, shaman, and inquisitor.

Although, if you just want ranged through skills and weapon choice doesn't matter, then pretty much anything works. When in doubt, equip a 2-hander and spam forcewave/tremor. You can usually modify that skill in a number of ways to match any 2nd mastery.

The most simple, easiest is probably just soldier/shaman and spam primal strike. It is very intuitive, and it is rather difficult to screw up that build. It comes online almost immediately without the need for specific items or levels.

Try a Soldier/Oathkeeper with a force wave focus this might be your thing possibly, forcewave operates in the grey between melee and ranged. Be aware though that it is considered a cast type attack so you want to gear cast speed up on this one.
