They are purely cosmetic, so aside from cool looks you are not really missing out on anything useful. Feel free to skip them, they don't add anything meaningful, I personally only got them after several hundreds of hours, because at that point it felt like they deserve the money. There are very few AAA games that come close to the amount of the time you can get out of GD.
If you sort of want them but don't want to get them for the full price, they can be around 15% off at the times, but that's about it.
Loyalist Packs only add illusions/cosmetic stuff (meaning you do not loose anything for not owning them other than a few outfits). I personally bought them myself to support the good work Crate is doing with Grim Dawn but they are not absolutely necessary to enjoy the game.
All in all, they are immensely positive and am glad they exist. The skins you get in some of them, like I said, the most recent, is well worth the price if you are into things like that. Great thing is they are purely optional and can be VERY easily ignored unlike most games that offer skin purchases.
Also these are just advertised in the game store page. This is important to remember because the other games you mentioned do not bother with doing this. If you do purchase them you can talk to an NPC to claim your rewards but that is it. That is the whole system in Grim Dawn. In fact, you do not even have a microtransaction shop or are "forced" to play online if you just want to casually slay monsters but none of your friends happen to not be around. This is a practice I, myself do agree on. Crate is independent so they need these "tips" from these loyalist pack sales. And the money will go into getting us more game updates (like, for example a new expansion coming late this year/2025). And fixing bugs, more QoL changes, and, in general to growing the game. The skins themselves are all amazing. I like all of the 3 loyalist pack illusions (I use them all the time on characters). But again, they are totally optional. Think of this as if someone is providing a good service and you happen to have some spare money on the side to give them a tip for that. You in trade, get some game cosmetics that have just illusion value but no combat advantage stats that require you to buy them to get an edge over the game. This is as clear as we can hope to get nowadays and honestly I hope we get MOAR of this in the future :)
