But usually after certain point in the game (read: when I remember to do so and am fed up with too much trash on the floor) I usually filter out everything, including rares. Only MIs and higher and double rares are shown.
This works well in SC, however I can understand why someone, especially on HC might want to have wider selection to have it easier to cover missing resistances and defenses.
Even filtering out yellows may not be worth it when the new expansion drops because:
"Affix Transmutation - reroll your rare and magic items to perfect your equipment."
and as for those blues:
"Awaken Epic Items - unleash the true potential of many Epic items to turn them into powerful implements worthy of Legends!"
Because blues are worse than MI's for the most part. So many combinations of damage stats and resists needed that for some builds aren't possible with blues but MI's make it relatively simple. I only show Mi's, Doubles, Uniques, and Legendary items. Blues just suck past lvl 60 or so and there is no reason to pick them up unless you're pressed for iron
If the new mechanic ends up being worthwhile, I'll look at some blues, but until it is proven to be more than just a resource dump then I am probably not touching it or blues
If that ends up being the case, I'll SR fish with the filter for epics toggled, but if I am just doing normal day to day sessions then I turn that crap off, finding *one* piece of treasure in a five mile tall pile of manure isn't worth the time or headspace
and most importantly *when* are people still showing greens? (and who is these "everyone" you speak of)
if you're talking about showing rares during levelling, then yes that makes total sense; because rares are not bad levelling items, and is a good solid way to frequently upgrade to better stat intervals and ofc specially fix specific resist shortcomings .
If you're talking endgame, i don't know, i don't do that, i only toggle rares back on when specifically farming for money so i clean the SR floor (this has become less important with path 1.2 btw).
For levelling i tend to only keep the rare filter up to around lvl 75ish, by then i'm so decked out in MIs, probably an epic or legend or two i can easily coast until new MIs or rng blues/purples before 90budget transition
just loot them and dismantle them
I think the loot filter in Grim Dawn is fit for purpose and gets the job done nicely.
Why not during the levelling process, only filter out greens to the affixes you need?
and in general what you want to focus on is not dmg bonuses, which would, imo, mean at minimum include resist, which already open you up to a bunch of greens, so you might just keep it neutral "just in case" something particularly useful appears.
Early game you don't have access to MIs for majority slots yet, so you will largely rely on regular rares.
As you get more access to MIs you might more and more use less regular rares, but they might still fill gaps or certain non-MI slots. Obv no MI existing for boot/gloves means that you need something else there, but even something like ex MI pants can have such huge level interval jump you might want something inbetween 30-65.
Last benefit of skimming through all those greens is that in the end it will net you an decent amount of supplemental money during levelling when you vendor all the crap that wasn't to be worn
