Best complimentary/subclass for caster Arcanist?
Hello! i recently restarted my game, playing as an Arcanist now after i got bored of my melee character, however i'm at level 10 now,and i don't really know what class would really compliment my pure caster build,i'm trying to do as few melee as possible while still being damaging, and i've seen a lot of people say Shaman would be good but i'd like an up-to-date opinion on the matter ^^

So occultist has the skills i want? Preferably i'd have like 4-6 skills i'm using frequently, not too much to manage ^^

Which skills do you plan on using? That will be your answer. If you plan on using a lot of Trozan's, for example, then Occultist probably wouldn't be the best choice.

Thats the thing,i have no clue, right now i'm basicly using the magic missle exclusively as my main attack, still looking into what i even want to use in arcanist, perhaps the ice shards one?

If you want to do lots of Elemental Damage, go with Demolitionist. If you want to do more Chaos/Vitality damage, go with Occultist.

well i've already did a commando run so honestly Demolitionist isn't really my thing,is Chaos/Vitality easy to be good with throughout the whole game? or do lots of mobs have high resist to either?

Warlock is a pretty easy build, just don't swap to Tainted Power Aether Ray until you have the Energy to sustain it as it does chew through a lot. As for Aether damage, I don't have a lot of experience with it but as no other class has any synergy with it skill wise you'd be pretty item dependent for damaging skills using it as a main-type, with your second class being mostly for passives.

Alright i think i'll do Warlock then ^^ sounds fun to pick from both Occultist and Arcanist! Thanks :D

Occultist/Shaman is amazing, so much damage and survivability. Takes a while to get going but you will absolutely power through Elite/Ultimate. Chaos damage falls away a bit in Ultimate but since most of your damage is Vitality and you have a nice Vitality resistance reducing debuff it doesn't matter. Kiting is also super easy when you need to but most stuff can be destroyed while facetanking it.

What useful stuff does Shaman contain? also i'm playing Arcanist so i cannot switch to Occultist :P

Sigil of Consumption with Destruction for AoE damage. I also highly recommend Solael's Witchblade constellation for Eldritch Fire for additional AoE damage and to lower resists.

This is the build I'm using: http://grimcalc.com/build/jq5o9N with 10 points to spare to put wherever.

Once you get ectoplasm on all your jewelry and badge, the spirit cost on chaos ray isn't that bad. You'll need to use a potion or two on longer boss fights, but I have a couple stacks of 100 sitting in my inventory anyway. In other words, you pick up more potions than you'll ever use, despite the high spirit cost.

Ah sorry I misread.

The best thing about Shaman as a 2nd class really is Modrogen's Pact with Heart of The Wild maxed which gives 40% more health. Wendingo Totem for health & Storm Totem for aoe are nice if you go that far into the tree.
