Cronley's Gang Reputaion - A Warning to Others
1) This is part a public service announcement and part a plea to the Devs.

2) I appreciate I came to the party a little late on Rep farming

3) Damn!

Ok, so like I said in 2) I get that I started late on rep farming, in particular trying to farm my way to Nemesis with Cronely's gang. I'm currently 14,000 short and have hit a major road block.

I started farming for Devils Crossing Rep and by default Cronley's Gang Rep at level 42 (like I said I appreciate I came a little late to the party). The problem is this: Having done countless Hideout runs, plus associated bounties, I have gone from level 42 to level 48 from XP gained from kills and completing said bounties. I hit Revered with Devil's Crosssing a while back.

So, forgetting the mechanics of what reputation points you get for what type of mobs common/hero/boss etc, the crux of it is this, ANYTHING, be it normal mob or boss mobs, anything 10 levels below you gives 0 rep.

What this means is that now the only Cronley mobs that give me rep are:

Darius Cronley (And as soon as I hit level 49 he will no longer give rep)
The 6 or so mobs that level scale in the hideout just above the shrine
The Bruiser (Bounty needed for spawn)
The Brawler (Bounty needed for spawn)
The Raven (Bounty needed for spawn)

Including a bounty for the bruiser/brawler that gives me at present about 150 rep per Hideout run, which will drop to 100 rep per run when I hit level 49.

I know getting to Nemesis is supposed to be hard BUT while other faction enemy mobs continue to appear at higher levels I have seen nothing to suggest that the Cronley gang appear later in the game than I have got so far.

So to all you would be Nemesis chasers out there, start farming Cronley gang as early as you can or you are in for a world of hurt - in my case it's about 24 hours of pain getting the right bounty to spawn and then running through the entire Hideout just to kill 6 mobs and 1 Hero.

In closing, let me just repeat point 3) - Damn!

Or... y'know... farm on elite where they scale to ~71 or so.

This. The quests even net more rep than they do on normal, I think.

Thanks for the comments, but not really the point I was making. Sure you can play through the game twice to unlock Elite difficulty, or you could just start farming early on. And not everyone is that much of a hardore gaming fanatic. ;)
Elite and Ultimate exist for a reason, and I don't think that reason is so you can always farm in Normal.

game has 3 difficulties. youre not supposed to max ANYTHING out on normal mode. thats the point of extra exp on higher difficulties

Farm eveerything to hell on Normal sounded to me a lot more hardcore than faem a bit on normal, then a bit on Elite then a little bit more on Ultimate, really.

Most people won't make it to Nemesis rep on their first playthrough. I would dare to say that no one gets there without lots of farming and not progressing in the story. You would essentially have to do bounties over and over again, which ain't fun. Completing normal and going for elite is both natural progression and makes farming rep easier (you essentially don't farm, just go through content again and get the rep along the way..more rep than on normal on top of that!).

I think the way rep and infamy is handled is not one of the best points of GD. You could avoid getting too high a level too soon by skipping all mobs except heroes and Moneybags. With about 150-200 infamy per run you'd need to run him at least 150 times.

Twice? Beat the game once and you get elite. Twice is ultimate. Normal and veteran are the same damn thing.

Nemesis enemy boss spawn don't even spawn on normal/veteran... Just complete game once, and you unlock elite difficulty.

I don't even bother to get revered on the factions either since the vendor items are level 50/70 and pointless to obtain on normal/veteran difficulty. I just stop at respected/honored and move on.

Grind on elite for faction points...

Nemesis not spawning in normal? That's something I didn't know.
I have, like the TS, been farming the Crowley's Gang. Level 42 conjurer and I am revered with the gang and around 13k reputation left to Nemesis.
But good to know that there's no point for me to grab the last reputation bar since I won't get anything from it anyway.

I maxed Devil's crossing rep very easily, on Normal.

If I had actively started farming for Nemesis with Cronely 20 levels earlier than I did, i.e. at level 22 doing things like Staunton Mine and world mobs I would have easily got to Nemesis. Hence the point of my post - very easily doable on Normal if you start farming early.

So far I don't see infamy being an issue for other factions, just Cronley because of the levelling issue.

Wait. You are trying to get Nemeis on your first playthrough? No. There's a reason rep carries over into the next difficulty level.

trade for an infamy warrant
