Skeleton Key?
I'm doing the steps of torment and I've just cleared Misery but can't progress because I need the skeleton key. Is it supposed to randomly drop from a monster? Thanks.

You get the recipe as a reward from a quest chain that starts outside of the undercity. (Forget the name of the actual city though :P)

You need to get quest called Descent into Torment first. You can get first part of the quest from NPC in Broken Hills near the entrance to Arkovian Undercity.

Did you just randomly go into steps of torment or are you following the quest? There should have been a NPC just outside the entrance. After you complete it he gives you the key and recipe to make more keys.

Once you complete the quest, you'll have the recipe to craft skeleton keys.

Ahhh. I see. I thought it was because I skipped a certain quest. Thanks a lot, guys!

Is the key reusable? I died in the Suffering and it wasn''t possible to re enter. I had to reload and now I have to start the whole thing again? Is that how the game was designed?

No, they are not reusable. They are one use only. Yes, it was designed that way. If you want more Skeleton keys, you have to craft them. The Steps of Torment and Bastion of Chaos are roguelike dungeons, they are different from the rest of the dungeons in the game. You cannot leave them once entered, and if you die, you cannot go back in unless you have another Skeleton key.

I was worried about that. and to craft a key you need the blood of ch'thon which only drops from certain heroes/ bosses. Not sure why the dev decided to do something like that. Is this dungeon near the end of the game? This is my only quest so there are no other options for me here.

They are meant to be optional end game dungeons. You don't have to do them. They are challenge dungeons.

I have no other active missions! Now what, run around? There are places north I can go but where? This is very strange circumstance I'm in. Im currently in homestead.

You were meant to EXIT on like Level 2 or something for the main quest storyline.

The skeleton key bit is purely an optional side quest end-game area that always scales with you.

hmmm. good to know. But I still have no other quests on my list and Im lvl 38. Quests NEED to have a progression. Im stuck without a mission and nothing pointing to the next one.
