DEE + Solael's Witchfire
Got a quick question:

Does Dreeg's Evil Eye work with Solael's Witchfire? My initial testings indicate that no, they don't work together, but forums post elsewhere indicate that they should.

I am confused and need reassurance.

It doesn't work WELL together. Witchfire buff weapon damage and only weapon damage, not skill damage. The base skill for Evil Eye deal no weapon damage, though its first upgrade contain an extremly light (like only a few%) weapon damage. This weapon damage will be increased by Witchfire.
For example, if your Witchfire increase your weapon damage by 20, and You've taken one or two point in Evil Eye's first upgrade, make it deal 2% weapon damage, Witchfire will buff this by....0.4.

this does confuse me then, why go with SW when most occultists start by maxing out DEE?

Wrong... it does increase %vitality damage that is useful for all vitality spells, same with it´s passive, that gives bonus to chaos damage
But since he is talking about poison, it does not anymore...
If an Occultist isn't going DEE and instead use weapons, then they can benefit more from Witchfire.
For a Pyromancer (Occult + Demo) or Witchblade (Occult + Soldier) that rely on guns/ swords for example, Witchfire give a huge buff.

so how would you build with SW then? Should I get refunded on all the DEE points I've put in so far? Fortunately I'm only lvl 8.

I'm planning on building a Witch Hunter, so SW seems more interesting than DEE. What do you guys think?

They dont really work together.

DEE have a very low %weapon damage on 2nd modifier (15% at max rank)

So, your DEE would get only 15% of the chaos damage from witchfire.
Attack speed is useless for DEE.
%Vita, you will get full effect (somewhat usefull for last DEE node).

So, if you go DEE, witchfire is 1point at most (with +skills, you will get something worth 1 point, but not more)
Are you planning on using weapons or DEE with your Witchhunter? If weapons, then go for Witchfire and either remove Evil Eye or make it non-spammable.

ehh I find weapons more fun honestly. Spamming DEE gets old fast even if it's pretty effective.

Each Mastery has about 2-3 lines that work together. You're not supposed to take all skills in a Mastery class.

DEE / Sol don't work together, at all (One is poison / acid, the other vit / chaos).

Occultist have three main builds:

#1 Pure summoner (easiest / most popular)

#2 DEE / spell spammer poison / acid

#3 Melee or Ranged Sol + drains

As a first character, I'd suggest going pure summoner as it's the easiest. DEE has an issue where Undead (and you'll meet a *lot* of Undead in the first act and then late act II) are highly resistant to poison. SOL / drains rely on knowing what you're doing and having the right gear (which you won't have as a first char).

Hit up the summons, sit back, sip your drink, farm items, learn the game, then play around.

DEE and SW DO work together. It's just a minimal percentage because of how little %weapon damage the spell gains.

i use Solaels Witchfire and Curse of Frailty from Occultist, Veil of Shadows, Pnuematic Burst and Blade Barrier for heals and Shadow Strike from Nightblade, might take Blood of Dreeg later for extra heals, something like this might be more to your playstyle

I have a tanky Occultist/Soldier with Menhirs Bulwark, Curse of Frailty and Blood of Dreeg and a full Set of Perdition (basically: Acid-Retaliation to 11). At lvl 58 on Epic I do about 4000 retaliation damage from set and passive skills alone and 200hps. In case of danger I can pop blood of dreeg and some triggers on low HP both from skills and devotion.

Initially I thought that Possession would also buff retaliation (acid) damage but it doesn't. Generally, Crate needs to improve the nomenclature: +% Total Damage applies to all types of damage +% Elemental Damage does only cover Fire/Cold/Lightning (SHAME on you Discord-Patch! I want its Chaos Damage back!) and +% Acid damage is only for offensive skills.

Great game nevertheless :)

Solael's Witchfire is hot garbage unless you're going Witch Hunter, since Phantasmal Blades, Doom Bolt and Sigil of Consumption are the only skills in the game that deal both Chaos and Vitality damage. Not even worth the points for any other class or skill combination, it's just way too limited.
