Celestial Essence,

I need it for the Sacrificial Altar in the Korvan Sands.

I see it drop, but it is not in my inventory and i cannot open the altar.

What must i do?

you sure you're not mixing it up with Vital Essence or Eldritch Essence?
Celestial Essence is very specific, you get it from orange chest Korvan Secrets trove that randomly spawns in FG or Morgoneth in tombs of the heretic final boss
if you actually have it the altar will work

I've beaten the last boss of FG three times now. And i think i saw it drop from the boss.
But it is not in my inventory.

Can something else that looks similar drop from the last boss?

Otherwise i will keep farming the last boss, till i get some.

last boss in FG does not drop Celestial Essence; Korvaak drops Celestial *Lotus* or Eldritch Essence only

yes, you need the specific big orange lava "veiny" chest Korvan Secrets trove (can see on grimtools map all it's potential spawn points), or farm Morgoneth since he has like 10% drop chance

i actually don't remember, it "might", but i really wouldn't rely on that offchance since it would be huge RNG even if it could be part of chest reward, and then if turns out it can't it's just entirely futile time spent just for that

Celestial Essence is super rare.

BTW Are you sure you want to use it on altar? It will summon the mega-boss which absolutely destroys a lot of builds that breeze through main campaign and shards up to 75.

My Witchblade (~25k hp, ~3k hp/sec regen pre-buffs), that can facetank three Nemesis bosses at once while casually turning them into a pulp and had no problems killing Ravager of the Flesh, still struggled against the thing which this altar brings. Also if you are unable to kill this boss and leave the game, the boss dissapears and the essence is wasted.

Unless your build does melt any regular bosses of the game in no time and can facetank other super-bosses, using the essence will be just a waste of said essence and time. Try Ravager first, it costs nothing and can serve as a rough (though much weaker) representation of what you'll meet.

Good to know. I thought it only drops from Morgoneth. I don't remember ever seeing Korvan Secrets trove, probably I just don't pay attention.

it has like 40-50? potential spawn spots or something sprinkled across the entirety of Forgotten Gods, which means it can be pretty rough to just accidentally stumble across unless getting good RNG, or unless specifically hunting for it.
I feel like sorta semi remember a dozen or so potential spawn spots off hand, and i still rarely actually manage to casually stumble upon it when i clear the korvan basin quest line in a single run.

When I tried to complete my collection of Legendary sets I did totem runs on Ultimate from Infernal Wastes rift to Eldrich Gate rift. Entering all dungeons except for Messenger's. I was mostly searching for set parts and Eldrich Essence.

Still I got 3 Celestial Essences through this (in about 10-15 runs) before switching to SR-farming. So, chance to get it by playing 100% of campaign and clearing everything but without re-runs of the areas is 30-50% IMO.

A, you can easily miss it "even if you clear the entire campaign in 1 stretch" - as i mentioned earlier that's how i play, and i already know like 1/3-1/4 of the spawn points, and i still don't get the chest, more frequently than i do get
B, you will 100% get it "if you're looking for it" - while running the entire Korvan Basin route(in which it spawns), because the chest has 100% guaranteed spawn chance

the issue is it can spawn in many locations, and several of those locations are off to the side or "hidden", so you kinda have to go looking for those or know about it.
And that's super easy to miss a bunch of those even if you're doing the Korvan quest line, specially if you're not fully clearing the map while doing so,
"the chest spawns on the path to the left but you took the path to the right", on a small windy part of the area, while having no immediate need to actual backtrack down the other side just to clear a bit of trash
if that makes sense

I'll think about it. I can facetank all bosses, also the last boss of FG.

In 550 hours, i must say i find the Celestial Essence a bit too rare for my taste. And my least favourite bit of the game. Not a biggy though.

I finally got the essence. Tried the boss, got one-shotted almost.
Grinded for another, got one. That one lies dormant in my stash :D
