Spirit required by gear, rest physique, no cunning should be needed (unless you will use some of pet rifles that exists.. than enough to wear it)

Save points and just spend them as you need to equip gear. At the end, have enough spirit and cunning to equip gear and dump the rest into physique for survivability. There is a potion to reset attribute points so don't sweat misspent points.

Have fun with pets. My second character is a pure pet build. Really enjoying it. Though I've only just started elite so we'll see how far it goes...

Keep few points free to handle item requirements, dump the rest into physique.

You will need few points in spirit for offhands an jewelry, maybe cunning if you go for a gun or dagger, but if you screw up, you will get attribute respec potion on your way to Malmouth as a quest reward (and then another one on Elite and another on Ultimate and they can also be crafted so no worries about lack of those). Note: some devotions have requirement reduction, so take that into consideration.

Lastly, depending on your endgame build, you might end up with skills or devotions that require critical hits so if this will be your case you might want to redirect some points into cunning in your endgame build, but that won't concern you until level 94.

During the leveling it's not a big deal, you can get up to level 70 without spending a single attribute point as you'll be partially covered by points invested in your mastery bars. I would just switch and start investing into physique from now on and deal with it once you start struggling or completing endgame gear.

From my time playing with pets, the max spirit needed for my Ritualist build is 594 which is for the Ghol's Raiment equipment set so as far as I know you can put everything into physique and you will get enough spirit without adding additional points, you can always reset your attribute points so assigning points so you can wear certain gear isn't really much of an issue.

This is a very tanky and highly survivable Ritualist build, most Devotion goes towards AoE healing.

Well that might be related to the fact that you don't have endgame gear yet, for example Fleshwarped Archive requires 724 spirit if you don't have requirement reduction in some item or devotion: https://www.grimtools.com/db/items/8618
