Manifestation of Korvaak
Okay, I just defeated the Manifestation of Korvaak on Normal with my Conjurer.
I came close to dying once, but luckily did not.
As a Conjurer, the biggest problem I had, was me having to dance around all of the attacks from pillars and the Manifestation of Korvaak, which caused my pets to often not attack. They would stop attacking and following me, even though they were set to aggressive.
That was by far the strongest boss encounter on Normal.

So, on Elite and Ultimate, what would be the trick to staying alive?
Just make sure ones resistances are 80% plus or are there other things to consider?

You can see every monster here on grimtools. Here is Manifestation of Korvaak:

Just having resistances over 80% is not enough, you have to have enough high armor with 100% absorption rate. And you need some % physical resist, too.
Why? Every (?) monster also do physical damage, too, and some do a lot.

In Ultimate you want around a 2200 or higher offense. But if a pet class you can disrgard that a bit since pets are not really counted. For defense to be safe you want around 2200-2600. 2200 is cutting it close. But somewhere in that range. Also want good resists . At least to soft cap. So +20 over 80 on everything. Those are minimums.

As he is a heavy pet oriented class you don't need nor high armor nor armor absorbation, as somebody mentioned above

High resistances, high pet stats (total speed/attack speed, crits), high DA and large HP pool - yes, definitely

And never forget about "pet attack" button, it served not only by directly attack to something but also this is command to all your pets to move in points you click, to get advantage in combat or avoid some dangerous aoe attack from enemies

Congratulations!
There are some builds that can face tank Korvaak, but most will have to do some kiting and running away to avoid the big damage attacks. Yes, pets stop attacking if you get too far away. You have to find the sweet spot where you are close enough but not too close. With bosses, it's easier once you learn the pattern of their attacks so you know when it's safe to attack.

For a pet conjuror, you need DA on your character and your healing skills are important. My conjuror had 3080 DA and 32% phys resist at level 100 so you can work up to that. With a Royal Jelly Ointment you can handle just about anything. Having the right gear is important.
Once you have the Beastcaller set, it gets easy. Mogdrogen's blue armor set is great and should be easy to find. Overcapping resists by large amounts isn't necessary, but certainly helpful. You want resists on your pets. Depends how aggressive you want to be and how good your piloting skill is.

Once you get to Ultimate you can check out the build guides on Crate's forum and get some ideas on different ways to make your build. Hopefully you don't burn out hunting for gear.
