Plains of Strife Mines
Well, I didn't even know what was killing me... The same thing happened to me in Warden's labs and some other cave with the deadly water... that stuff kills you fast and you're dead before you even know what's killing you.... yeah, those mines are brutal and you can't even really kill em. Hell, I can barely see em... I think you're supposed to crawl through that area... Luckily I've got pets and I can easily mark them with Curse of Frailty... phew.. but, what the hell do you do if you have no curses as such and no pets? Really, just crawl though that area? I mean, they're mines, they should explode at the slightest provocation... Always have one pet handy... Seriously, how do you kill them? Does max fire resist get you through em?

I always find them rather unspectacular and they only do a noticable amount of damage if I run into 3 or 4 of them in a row. So I guess, yes, resists do help. Probably fire, but I can't say for certain.

Unlike the environmental hazards, the mines' damage can be migitated by Fire Resistance. a properly geared character can walk through the entire minefield and only lose a sliver of HP.
And personally, I don't think they're that hard to notice. You can even lure enemies into them.

Lol, the first time I went through that area, I was screaming as my character, "Who the Hell thought it was a good idea to put mines around where our own guys would be?!" Yeah, I died a couple times because of them. You just really gotta keep your eyes open, they can be difficult to see. They should really make them more obvious.
well, I get that was sort of the point that they would not be very noticeable. But there's no way to clear them directly without pets or enemies running into them or some other resist; like just detonating them with some spell or ranged weapon, but no, some living thing must come into contact with it for it to explode. I had plenty of resists but the it still was savage and they are clustered together so, it does set off a few of them at a time. Also, the burning over time really messes you up.

I found as a caster I would be kiting a group of mobs and not realise I was on top of them until they went boom. So now as I enter those areas I use totems to detonate them at a safe distance so I don't blow myself up. Works well enough for me :-)

Guess you wouldn't be a fan of a more realistic version that you can't see as they are buried underground.

No they shouldn't.
How are they difficult to see at all? are you playing on Low settings or something ?

The aetherfire floors are definitely worse. When the ground has been scarred and blackened by explosions, it's not immediately clear where exactly you can and cannot stand. Next thing you know you've lost a huge chunk of health.

Proper visual boundaries on the damned aether damage zones WOULD be nice. Maybe once the modkit comesout.

I imagine my Arcanist is scar tissue from all the ressurects in town. Really wish the control scheme was more like Victor Vran...

Here lies a screaming voice, cut down before their prime.

RIP another victim to the PoS death mines.

I should write a guide to defeating the mines and call it "Mine Kampf".
