do the main story, then proceed to AoM, then FG.
Difficulty doesnt really matter, just take it step by step. After Act 1, you can switch on Veteran, but the 10% extra exp is not worth it, since you'll be around lvl 70 when you finish the main quest, anyway.

Just breeze through normal, then do elite and later ultimate.

For a first playthrough I'd advise not jumping into FG content (unlocked when you kill Warden Kreig at the end of base game Act 1). Just keep playing through the base game then do Ashes and then Forgotten Gods. That's the smoothest progression levelling and storyline-wise.

You can't unlock Elite until you finish the base game when killing the boss in the Necropolis, but again I'd advise against moving up from Normal at that point. To unlock Ultimate you have to do the same thing on Elite difficulty.

Veteran is just a slightly harder Normal so you can switch over to that if you want to give it a try. If it's too hard you can always switch back to Normal again.

if you buy the definitive edition, you can play elite and ultimate right away right? but increasing the difficulity will increase also the drop chance for loot?

for me the matter is loot,, exp i'm not really into it

also i heard ppl do FG for couple quest after act 1 for unlock faction and speed item? idk what it is

Nope. You have to play through base game Normal to unlock Elite and then base game Elite to unlock Ultimate.

Once you have a character or characters into either Elite or Ultimate FG content then you can buy merit tokens for other characters to use which will unlock Elite or Ultimate from a low level.

You can jump into FG and do the first couple of quests to unlock your faction choice and get a movement rune if you want to. I don't bother because I don't use them myself.

But that's the only way to unlock higher difficulties from the get go.

Better loot will have a better chance of dropping on higher difficulties.

Here's what you do. You play the game on normal(not vet) campaign, aom, fg. In that order. By the time you're done with those 3 you're probably already mid 60s. You rush elite, then go straight to ultimate to farm stuff.

Btw you unlock the next difficulty by killing loghorean.

The easiest farming spot in ultimate is the wasp den just off the rover camp, beyond the gate where you need a dynamite to progress, you'll get beast rep for this too so chubacabra is prob your first nemesis to unlock

experience wise i can"t tell for sure but loot wise you want to spam 150-170 crucible provided you can solo easely or have a nice people to farm it along with you

as someone who is a newer player like you. I recommend playing how you want. What is most fun for you. There are no"wrong" or "right" choices as to how you want to experience Grim Dawn. Only advice I will give. Is just suck it in. AS a new player I still am learning new things like every day. Have FUN!
