Demolitionist 2nd class?

Played this game ages ago with a soldier and got bored so stopped playing but I've picked it up again and trying the demolitionist and it's a lot more enjoyable.

What would be a good class to dual it with? Occultist Hellhound looks interesting but looks like it needs a lot of skill points. Or should I just stay a demo and shoot/burn/blow everything up? Would like to stay as a rifle wielding character.

Hybrid pet builds don't work well unless a) you understand the game mechanics well and b) you have Bonus to Pets items to help them.

If you have the Ashes expansion then Inquisitor would be a good match since that is a gunslinger mastery.

And you dont need to dual wield with the gunslinger skill.

If you do not want Commando(Demo/Soldier) and want to try something out. Demolitionist/Nightblade is fun. Strong AOE, Also two very strong Auras. Shadowdance and Blast Shield for defense. Then you have a ranged boss kill skill of Grenado.

Demolitionist/Occultist can also be fun. You can put together some really good regeneration power with Fire+Chaos, would recommend.

demolitionist + arcanist or inquisitor are god-like tier
most rest class combination with demo are all around good builds
demo + soldier or shaman are most limited combination, also gear dependant

I've heard it has pretty good synergy with inquisitor (purifier) for a dual pistol, fire/lightning damage dealer.

demo+occultist+darkblaze set can make a very high dps dual pistol chaos build

Went with demo/arcanist in the end. Is there a way to remove 2nd class or does it stay once picked?

Only using a 3rd party tool, can't do it ingame.

Demo/Occultist: I like to call it Boy and his Dog build.
Demo/Soldier: Amazing, use Battlecry to reduce their life, Grenados and Blackwater Molotovs, while having lots of life and defense. probably my favoritest and most tankiest.

I really love Fire Demo+Oathkeeper. It feels like the Juggernaut from Titan Quest (Earth + Defense). Where you are just a walking lava golem.
Edit: Missed where you said you'd like to stay 2H-Ranged. Ignore this, Demo+Oathkeeper is a melee build.
