And the Crate shoots at you, and this does not cause retaliatory damage. But that's why I haven't even tried it, because I can't be 100% sure.
My plan is to ignore the crates and just focus on the main guy. I've only seen crate twice in action, once on softcore just to test, and then once with my acid retaliation guy who just didn't cut it tank wise. There is a main guy with 2 axes that beats on you, right? I play with super low graphics and it's kinda hard to see in that area lol. It looked like a dual wielding crate-headed man slicing away at me, and then all those little crates. So i imagine the main guy will be taking a lot of retaliation and it's just a matter of surviving everything while I slowly wittle him down.
But if he only shoots me, then yes, this build is definitely not gonna work...
ignore crates, in fact a good strat is to keep kiting him away from crates if you can't survive facetank under the tree
maggots on the way in are not hostile, you can turn of dmg auras etc until you locate the right one - maggots are also susceptible to CC so you can ex stunlock them while you find and kill the right one
crates are also susceptible to some CC like slow
the reflected dmg reduct is basically irrelevant, it has nothing todo with retal, nor do player have any real reflect skill available anymore (mark of torment)
stuff like mega heals/leech build or multiple layered defences/circuitbreaker stuff can usually facetank him under the tree (to prevent meteor dmg),
DoT builds have a decent time kiting him, as long as they aren't squishy setups since you still need a little cushioning despite kiting,
and ofc a couple of ranged builds/gunners can just pew pew him from a distance without much consideration as long as their dps is high enough
and regular dmg builds can with a bit of chonk rotate fight him, kite, fight, kite fight, when boxes get too close or meteors spawn
keep in mind that the big box "name me" crate is something to pay attention to, as it will straight up 1shot most builds, so keep an eye on the spawn and make sure to not be engaged in close fight if the spawn cooldown is about to be up
They replicate on death. Normally, going for Crate, you'd want to contain your AOE.
I'm actually gonna try fighting him again first. Now I know I can tank soooo many of them, I'm gonna try to be way more aggressive and run around less.
And before that, I was gonna use a storm totem druid that I watched a video of. But that was my first attempt and I went in blind. The video said nothing about the maggots. So I just didn't know back then. Attacked em like normal maggots and died immediately.
