Controller Support

So I've got a problem that has probably been addressed before, but I can't find any help in the pre-existing discussions or on the web. So here it goes:

So I would like to try to play this game with a controller. Only problem is, Grim Dawn refuses to let me use it. Every other game I use my controller for, it works fine. Grim Dawn? No dice. I use a third party controller that registers on Steam as an Xbox 360 controller. All my controller settings are already set up. The main menu of the game lets me use the controller, but once I get into the actual game, it will display my hot bars with controller buttons for a split second, then immediately revert back to keyboard and mouse. I can't seem to figure it out, and again I can't seem to find a solution on the web or anywhere here in the pre-existing discussions. What gives?

i havnt played inawhile but there spot u have to turn it on. the regulars not here answering this ? ill have to launch it look i havnt played over a year. lots people had this issue its weird way to turn it on hold on ill check

go to options/key binding at bottom there is box to check enable non steam gamepad. Check that box and restart game try it.

this game is best hack n slash out there and im with ya on wanting controller support only reason i bought this one and im glad i did its friggin awesome. i just been into other games lately but keep thinking about this one again.

oh i think was another thing had to do in game so if still isnt working let me know ill look again
seems there was some type binding to do also

oh yes i see ok also when ur ingame go to ur skills menu then press y on controller then u can set ur skill slots

No, it's still not working. Interestingly enough, I tinkered with it a little bit and now the controller doesn't even work in the main menu and I can't get it working again lol. I did what you suggested, and I see what you're talking about in keybinding. Unfortunately, it didn't seem to do anything. It feels like it should have though. It's all good though. Worst case scenario, I will just forget trying to use a controller with this game.

no dont give up i had this same issue and thought wouldnt work lil trick to it but once u get it set its fine ♥♥♥♥ i might be missing somethign. where is everyone that helped me 2 years ago lol. i found old thread back then that helped me hold on ill log back into game again

right click ur game in library properties controller configuration go under general settings make sure xbox is checked also.

also this might been one them games acts weird unless u have the controller on before you start the game. some games do that dont ask me why they just do ive noticed

also have the nintendo box checked idk why but do it. might need restart pc

u prob started game without controller on i just did that and it acted weird
so its one them games just turn on controller then launch game and make sure rest that stuf is checked

Two things that might be a problem. Disable desktop support for steam input, it may be hijacking your input and the default inputs are keyboard/mouse. If that doesn't work, disable steam input for the game (under properties) and turn on the xinput controller support in the options menu in the game.

There was thread I had found way back when I had this issue. There is lil quirk to it and I dont remember what it was but once set you are good to go. Hope op doesn't miss out on this great game.

HA! What you suggested worked! I disabled steam input and it worked immediately. Thanks man, I would have never thought of that!
