Well, you see, it isn't a problem. Just make sure you trade only with people you know who don't cheat. Don't do random pub trades, because most of those will be fakes. Stick to a group you can trust. Since there is no economy or ladder system for Grim Dawn, dupes and fakes are only a problem if you decide to make it one.
Even no cheat clan has people that trade cheated items. So basically trade is sad in GD.
If you have proof of this, please contact the admin of GDNCC, or one of its mods. This is something the clan is very much against; it's an active effort to keep the clan clean.
I dont like it, but how do we filter these people out of our games? there is literally no way to stop the cheating unless an alternate way of "playing" is offered where a server hosts the save files, either by crate or/also by select people who choose to host multiplayer servers and have char repositories. cheating might still be possible though- but not just blatant full-on character editing.
A simple method would be to allow MP server hosts to
1. run in headless mode so dedicated hosts could be setup
2. allow multiple ports to be used so multiple servers could be run on a host
3. allow up to 8 players for dedicated host play only
I'd assume you came to that conclusion via using the inspect feature?
Yeah, if you think people aren't legit and you're hosting, I'd just ask them to leave politely; if they decline, you can kick/ban them. (I believe it's the 'p' key to bring up player list when hosting)
The best you can do is try to find like-minded individuals who share the same mindset against cheating. I also typically don't accept items from anyone unless I know them quite well and/or I know the item they're giving me dropped in the game we're in.
The best fun in this game, for me, is using the stuff I found myself, and not running with shady people.
I wish you the best of luck and enjoyment,
Take care.
dedicated servers wont work 'cause of quest proggrestion, the the very reason why so few people join low lvl multyplayer servers.
