Free Skill Point near Beginning!
Just after you kill the Reanimator and collect 4 aether crystals, quit game and back up two files from the "Normal" subfolder, of the directory path the game is being saved, charname specifically. BACK UP the couple of files with "Quest" in their name, then delete them. When you get in game, complete the quest rewarding you that 1 skill point, quit game, delete those files and repeat, until you get a couple of free points!

Game is really a tightwad with skill points, many people would need at least 10 more points for a better build. Seriously though, WTF is wrong with skill points in this game, why so few?

I dunno. Crate doesn't really seem to care about cheating when it involves messing with files on your system. Thus why sidekick is on the official forums and they don't care.

why bother going through this hassle when you can just set the value with a hex editor?????????????

If youre going to cheat, cheat smart, not re- tarded

We shall see. I don't think they tend to go for blatant in your face ways to gain unintended skill points in general discussion Steam forum.

And as Spiral notes.. Google is your friend if you're going to go that particular route.

There wouldn't be many build variations or trade offs if you had a bunch more skill points than you do currently... I've never felt hamstrung by it myself either way.

They dont really have any reason to delete this. I mean.. its not a trick, its just blatant changing the save.... but just like cheatengine and whatever, its just part of this game for some people and couldnt be more legal/allowed at this game.

I myself ofcourse tthink anyone who considers this kind of thing wont get to many hours into the game as they will make it boring for themselves and ruin the game for their own. But couldnt care less about what someone else does with his game.

For people who prefer it the fair way we always have the Grim Dawn Anti Cheat Clan Group ;D

If you wanted more points and you're willing to f*ck with the game files, you might as well just call yourself a cheater and download a trainer and edit your entire character file to have infinite skill pts. It's the same thing. Soon as you touch that file, your character is no longer legit. Your choice. Also, I'm pretty sure you get a total of 220 skill pts. If you can't make a build with that, you're probably doing something wrong.

Couldn't agree more.
