Why not max Wind Devil?
I am starting my new druid toon and I've seen alot of people use wind devil but why don't you max the skill?

The modifiers scale better than the actual skill does, so you usually max those first. Also there is lot of gear that gives +skill level to wind devil

From my limited usage of it -
1 - it goes where it wants
2 - will attack stuff off screen pulling mobs you arent ready for even tho there are plenty of mobs near you
3 - doesnt do a ton of damage

I've maxed it on my first druid just to try it out is decent but as post above is random, but if you add devotion skill adding effects to it, is quite nice. But in whole I already changed from druid a long time ago into other meele based or support builds.

Wind devil pairs well with lightning totem and sky shard. Affix tsunami to the wind devil and it sends waves of lightning/cold damage in all directions while doing a lot of damage itself. If anything approaches you, freeze/blast it with a sky shard and run away while dropping totems.

You can control them with the pet attack comand.

Extraordinary claims like this need a vid to back up the claim.

Wind devils are not classified as pets and would not be tied to that command. Its a spell pure and simple.

If something was changed inAoM then I would be corrected.

AND last but not least, you are responding to a post over 15 months old and many changes have since taken place.

Pretty sure you were always able to move WD's with pet command, even before AoM. Don't have a video, but, well I'm literally doing it right now in game.

As for the extremely old topic, I think points into WD can be useful now. It has gotten some damage buffs over a couple patches and with AoM's level 100 there are more skill points to throw around. Obviously only if you are boosting electrocute damage as well, otherwise it is still a 1 pointer if only using for resist reduction.

Most people use Wind Devil for the lightning resistance reduce (second modifier). Storm totem do much more dmg

I just buy the game few days ago, so I don´t know if this work before the last DLC. I just tried to command my devil winds with the pet attack comand and it work, not only to send them to attack a target, even you can send them to a point (I have pet attack in the right click).

the base wind devil skill does more physical and electrocute damage as you level it up. the first modifier adds cold damage and reduced elemental resistances, and the 2nd modifier adds a multi target lightning damage effect to it.

if you use the skill as a support spell for a build that does elemental damage (or one of the subtypes), the 1st modifier (raging tempest) is by far the most useful part since the lowered elemental resistance debuff on the target will also make elemental damage from other attacks/spells hit harder.

it's mostly used in elemental (lightning/cold/fire or mix of those types) builds for this effect. if you have points to spare, it's probably still more efficient to max the 2nd modifier first (since that also deals elemental damage, so it stacks with the debuff from the 1st modifer). adding more physical damage to the base skill is less important since the build will probably not have much support for physical damage.
