For the "+% damage to enemy type" it is listed separately in the Order of Defense calculation found on the combat section of the Game Guide: [grimdawn.com]
- Fumble, Dodge and Projectile Deflection
- Chance to hit via Offensive Ability vs. Defensive Ability
- Shield
- % Reduced Damage from Monster Types
- Armor
- Resistances
- Reduced Damage from Monster Types
- % Damage Absorption
- Damage Absorption
This is not a direct answer to your question but it shows that "+% to monster type" is higher in the pecking order than normal +% damage (Resistances)
The second post in this Advanced Mechanics [grimdawn.com] thread on the Official Forums may solve this:
- "The only damage multipliers in the game are +n% Damage to <Monster Type>
and +n% Crit Damage. Everything else...is additive""
Keep in mind that post is over a year old and the game has changed since then, but most likely +%damage to enemy type is still multiplicative.
On a side note, I wouldn't be so quick to discount those 50% "drops in the bucket" here and there. Yeah, one isn't a huge deal but another 50% for each gear slot starts to really add up.
I felt underwhelmed at first but kept going after the small upgrades wherever I could, now my warlock has nearly +1900% poison damage so I see what a difference those little gains can make.
The +2 to all skills is great, but it just doesn't seem quite worth the 2k damage loss. My warder primarily does melees, but switches to ranged when the mobs or bosses turn out to be near suicidal to melee. +45% multiplicative for the rifts and final boss fight would be awesome, since I often find myself switching to ranged in there :)
Since my original post, I've found two more Silvershots. Not all that rare for a purple it seems.
