The downside is you'll have fairly low health so you have to play smart. You'll be a bursty, high maneuverability assassin rather than a tanky melee juggernaut.
does the firestrike proc the shears and other "default attack" passives?
Edit: I also leveled vein of shadows to 10 instantly. Im fairly tanky I think.
The downside to this class is the low physique and health, so make sure to spend most your attribute points on physique so you can wear beefier armor and have more hp.

I played DW melee saboteur in hardcore vet and found that it can progress pretty fast without much problem (although, stupidly died against reflect mage during the last act)
