game added to geforce experience
so tonight/morning my geforce experience just added grim dawn to the list of games it can optimize. geforce experience has up the graphics settings from medium ( what I had it on ) to very high/high settings.
how do games get added to geforce experience? did crate make a deal with nvidia? I have never seen nvidia do their thing in the game at the start, and have been very grateful for not having to, like most other games do.
It is nice to know I can play the game on high/veryhigh settings. :FlashFreeze:

It's not that they make a deal, but Nvidia probably includes optimization settings for games with a certain popularity only as it's not worth the hassle of adding it for games that only a few people play, it requires some additional data in the software.

ah, well this makes more sense then what I was thinking.

http://www.geforce.co.uk/geforce-experience/faq

excerpt from page - Q: What data does GeForce Experience send to NVIDIA?
A: The application collects data needed to recommend the correct driver update and optimal settings including hardware configuration, operating system, language, installed games, game settings, game usage, game performance, and current driver version. If a user is not signed into an NVIDIA account, this data is not personally identifiable. If a user is signed into an NVIDIA account, the data is personally identifiable. All data collected is protected by NVIDIA's privacy policy.

Q: Does NVIDIA share data collected by GeForce Experience outside the company?
A: NVIDIA may share aggregate-level data with select partners, but does not share user level data. GeForce Experience does not share any personally identifiable information outside the company.

And how is that relevant to the question? This only explains how GeForce Experience collects data from your PC to determine which settings you need. Nothing to do with how they added compatibility with Grim Dawn.

Guess you didnt read the links provided. Says it takes data FROM your pc and creates a data base from all users which means "Its taking data without your consent". It takes the data from games played and settings users run it with. Its a comglomeration of aggregate data.

It takes the collected telemetry which includes hardware, OS, drivers, and compiles the data and then pushes the the most popular settings compared to your hardware.

Cant you read anything?

The additional info is for data conscious individuals to inform them that if you log in to the service - data can Identify you personally.....

while I understand all this and knew, just like steam, origin microsoft, and every other company that makes a program on your pc, they were doing this. it still does not state how they added Grim Dawn to the list of games they optimize which was the original question and is what Inkaflare is referring to. I read both links and it did not answer the question at hand. also bow down to the true rulers of your PC the giant corporations who sell you stuff and give you no rights.
if you can please inform me as to how nvidia decides which games get geforce experience support it would answer the question. I might have overlooked it as I did not see it explained. still a useful article to read nontheless.:FlashFreeze:

In laymens terms

As users launch games with the ge experience loaded - it collects that info. It collects all system specs and all settings you use when you play the game. It then adds to the database with all the statisctics it pulls from EVERYONE who plays any game that Geforce is monitoring.

It then compares your system to the database it has and makes recommended settings based on all users combined, with settings other users who have similar setups as you. There is no person siting behind the scenes choosing which games to examine.

Now there is probabaly a minimum amount of data collected before it starts making recommendations. And since Nvidia is a major GPU vendor, it collects tons of data and then an algorythm will determine when to show this games recommended settings.

Again, it may not work for all users as everyone has different stuff running in background, maybe some HDD need defragged or registries cleaned. Could have many apps open same time etc...

maybe I am not asking the right question for you to understand, which is my fault as the original poster. geforce experience now picks up Grim Dawn and can optimize it yet it does not do Van Helsing, Titan quest/IT, Dragon Age: Origins, and many, many more games that are more popular than grim dawn and have been around longer. so why does it do Grim Dawn? did the developers make a deal with Nvidia? did Nvidia decide they wanted to do it for the fun of it? what makes Grim Dawn get on geforce experience vs other games that are not on it?:FlashFreeze:

Those are far older games and may not have the settings in the ini files to register in the database that Nvidia uses to makes its recommendations.

There may not be a large enough player base that still plays those games to gather enough info. This is a relatively new program. I think there is a threshhold with how much data is collected before the game is on the list.

According to this list Grim is not on the settings list http://www.geforce.co.uk/geforce-experience/supported-games

I believe its sorta like hueristics on AV products. When the Nvidia engine sees new stuff, it sends in the data for the servers to mull over and establish a baseline for hardware settings.
NightWolf062 Jan 29, 2018 @ 4:16am
it sends diagnostic data from the games you optimize with GFE, nothing about other windows applications other than the geforce links that were accessed with microsoft edge
Go look at the log yourself, there is nothing personal in there at all that violates privacy, its just big data and game telemetry
A program designed to install drivers and manage games and software performance wants to know about your computer and games and software? Bastards. But on a serious note this really makes sense. If people spend 5 hours a day playing LOL on average then it would be a good idea for Nvidia to focus on optimizing that game.
Nvidia's privacy policy mentions these activities. If you use the program you accept the conditions.
