Stun jacks after low levels?
Only have the base game. Playing a Demolitionist and at Level 14. Stun jacks were great right at the beginning, and with the passive that enables you to throw them repeatedly will take down badly wounded packs that are almost on top of you. But that's all.

I keep reading about people making "stun jack builds. Are they actually useful later in the game? Demo allows you to boost fire damage tremendously, but not electrical as far as I can see?

Demo has resist reductions for elemental damage, and other useful stuff. Stun jacks scales immensely well and is probably one of the best single target damage dealing abilities in the game with right gear and build. Shaman, inquisitor and arcanist all should go pretty well with demo in this case.

This question was about a commando build where I want to add demo later for that fire damage to enemies when you get hit. Add a few points to Flashbang, and maybe Stun jacks if I have points left over..

Note that it's not worth adding a few points to a damage skill, you need to go for max or nothing. Also keep in mind that overall best strategy in GD is to only focus on a single damage type, and resist reductions for that.

Flame touched boosts electrical. Thermite mine/agonizing flames lowers resistances. Vindictive flame increases total speed and ulzuins wrath adds a bit of electrical and damage to health conversion. I've never played a stun jacker though. Check the compendiums for inspiration and take a look at youtube as well. :)

Pretty decent if built right.

As others already said it's totally doable - all or nothing, focus on one or max two damage types.

I don't think commando class is gonna work tho because soldier doesn't have any synergy or anything to do with the supported items for stun jacks.

Here is one example of mine, meme idea gone right:

Can it kill everything and is it hardcore proof? Heck no, but it sure is fun as hell to play (who doesn't like flashy objects).

Thanks all for the responses - much appreciated!

Edit: I'll look at the builds in the posts linked above - the video looks really fun. Playing on veteran I need far less careful building than for ultimate / hardcore. I'm going to aim to max stunjacks as an AoE complement to Soldier skills. As mentioned Flame Touched boosts electrical, and Agonizing Flames gives RR.

Really not optimal, but the straight Warrior archetype in games bores me to tears :)
