Greater Fireblast - omg...

So have I been playign this game wrong. I"m playing a gunner with the fire line and a slant toward fire damage and some DOT from the arcanist line....

I just made flintstone bolts and the granted skill, fire blast, feels super op. I"m litterally mowing down 3 champions in a few seconds as it has a chance to stun and its AOE and good damage. Are component spells suppose to completely obliterate skill spells like this? I feel silly, like I should just drop all the gun and fire skils as the huge, aoe stun, dot fireball is so much better. Will fire strike overtake this again at some point? Any vets have some feedback?

Component skills start out quite strong, but since they can't be leveled up they inevitably fall behind class skills.

Thanks, thats good to know. It would suck to focus on skill damage to find compoenent was the way to go. I'll keep my plan then.

Nine is correct, skills eventually surpass components for the most part. Some component skills remain viable due to unique abilities/utility such as chaos strike, but most of them simply don't scale into ultimate.

Ok, so I'll need to consider the strategy of using them through normal while leveling up, instead of dumping poitns into skills......

Exactly, it's a great way to still progress a build that hasn't come into it's own just yet.
