Question about checklists
Does the game contain any important things that you can permanently lose by not knowing something and/or being inattentive? I'm asking this question because I want to pass normal+vet difficulty as quick as possible, but I'm kinda scared of skipping something necessary and being unable to return and claim it later.

The only semi-important things are your choice of Blacksmith, do you kill Direni or let him live, how you handle Isaiah Reddan, whether you choose Kymon's or Death's Vigil and which way you want to go on handling the Outcast.

All of which you will redo how you please on Elite and Ultimate. Moving on to the other difficulties does not render you unable to switch back to Normal/Vet. You can go back at anytime and the world will remain as you left it. As you you increase faction reps and open new quests previously unavailable you can return and complete those quests on previous difficulties.

Nope. U can run towards Ultimate at 1000 mph.

As Powbam points out, you can always go back to veteran to grab anything that you missed.

I can understand the desire to quickly get to Elite where there's more challenge and better loot, but would recommend sticking around at least until you grab all 28 shrines in normal/veteran before moving on. As well as doing the hidden path quest chain

I wouldn't worry too much about faction bounties during the initial playthrough, but the side quests offered from the different factions can be worth doing for the xp and rep, even in normal/vet. Particularly any Black Legion side quests are worth going off the main story path to do. Like the quests for Pine Barrens and Tyrant's Hold

On a different angle, it is possible to incorrectly allocate your character's attribute points. These cannot be refunded if you spent them carelessly (outside of using a 3rd party program).

There is only one really important choice, other than that there are 3 minor ones.

1. The Witch in Fort Ikon, will you help her or follow the orders from the soldier. Helping her gives you a bunch of side missions aswell as access to her vendor, who has some great augments for your weapons and resistance for your armor. Killing her gives you Black Legion rep.

2. The smiths of Devil's Crossing. Depending who you pick you get some different random bonuses on crafted items. Black Legion smith in Homestead or Ikon gives better bonuses.

3. Act 2 at the small Rover camp, you get a quest to find an elder. He gives you a relic, will you lie and keep it or hand it in to the quest giver? Keeping it gives you a good placeholder relic until you can create your own. Only real useful at Ultimate since it gives you the highest possible level on it, can be worth it on veteran or elite aswell if you have no other relic. Turning it in gives Rover rep.

4. Kymon's Chosen or Death's Vigil, depending who you pick you get access to different items and augments. Armor augments are the same iirc. When you talk to them before picking a side they'll tell you what type of damage they represent on items and augments.
