Well that makes me a sad panda.
Only thing that did change a while back - so it must be a really long time since you played - is that components no longer drop as partials; they're complete components now when they drop.
Oh yeah, you're right, I remember that now, and that's a neat little QoL-improvement that I did experience in what little GD I played in 2020/2021, but as you can probably tell from my thread, nowhere near "enough for me".
I now chant to myself as I'm crafting, repeating each step, so I can find my way back to the beginning without taking notes.
I'm not even high half the time.
Hahaha! So I take it that "wacky tobaccy" is not essential to ALL the crafting recipes?
All in all, it's not a total pain. More like a 10% pain if you weren't lucky with drops the first time around and only see your fault when close to Ultimate. And of course, being finally able to drop meteors out of the sky is worth it :)
Completion bonuses made them absolutely worthwhile and when they first decided to do away with them they tossed out the "bone" that they would try to find a way to reimplement them. Sadly, that day never came.
Anything that adds 1) more RNG, and 2) greater build depth/tweaks and customization... I am all for. RNG and build depth is what makes a rogue-like a rogue-like and a diablo-like a diablo-like. They are the cornerstones of both genres.
Thank you most kindly McCloud sir! Please accept an award as a small token of gratitude.
Now I at least have an excellent overview of how mindnumbingly grindy it is to achieve just a single of those high-tier relics.
...and there was much rejoicing.
No problem! Yeah I hated making 60+ relics too w/ADHD. lol
