Yes, and interesting game with a really pleb skill trees that devs didn't even give a second thought to when designing it. Unbalanced skills, and probably spell spam.

consider yourself lucky to find this treasure.

I bought this game a few years ago and only now I've realised how good it is, I just can't stop playing now. It might be the best arpg i have ever played, I get the same feeling I used to get playing diablo 2 with my older brother back in 2003-4.
It's a shame that more people don't know about the game

It's just awesome. I could even get my boyfriend to buy it (incl. AOM) and he normally hates all hack and slay games with a passion. He won't ever reach max level, but he has so much fun on the way playing it. Two other people from my friendslist also bought it, because of seeing me in Grim Dawn everyday. They just got curious and tried it, too.
(Maybe me talking all the time about Grim Dawn could have been a reason, too).

Glad to have you here, too, now!
I wish you the best of fun and happy loot!

Have a nice day!

Keep in mind, this game is an Indie game, small Indie Studio, no huge AAA publisher. Been out for a while, so the huge messy hype train is not dead, but idling in the trainyard, waiting for the next expac. Not sure how many employees 9devs and support staff) but I know it is under 20, if I remeber correctly?

Divinity 2 is made by a much larger studio, well over 100 employees (devs and staff), with a pretty buig AAA publisher backing them, and paying a ton of money to advertise and promote the game, inflating numbers due to the over-hype train AAA studios and publishers can afoord to throw cash around to create. Game just launched, so of course it has huge numbers playing. Let it ride. Once the "next big thing" is released, those number will drop.

While the steady numbers of player who love this game, ad are eagerly waiting for the new expac, will likely not fluctuate much, but will remain fairly constant.

TL;DR- comparing an older Inde game to a shiny new AAA game is not a fair, or vaild, comparison. Ever. It's like comparing that absolutely fabulous Italian pastry chef at the little shop down the street with Gordon Ramsay.

Go. Play. Enjoy this game. It is fantastic, and Crate keeps making it better, from little tweaks, to bug expacs. Have fun!

Yes and both are the same type of game isn't it? Heck Even DOTA 2 have more playerr than DoS 2 and GD where is the justice?!

Well, as much as I LOVE Grim Dawn (best diablo-type game there is), it doesn't even hold a candle in comparison, not to mention that Divinity: Original Sin 2 is, as said, made by a much larger company.

But it's much more than that. Grim Dawn is single-player focused, which doesn't work THAT well in the genre, since monster mashing and loot collecting is way, way more interesting with other people. Sure, you can play online, but the game IS focused more on the single-player aspect and, well. Multiplayer is clunky in Grim Dawn.

A game that is more about being tactical, looks way better, is story-based and is much more new player friendly, of course Divinity takes the cake and is adored much more.

Oh and it's only the Definitive Edition that is new and "just released", so it's not new and shiny.

A second oh; Grim Dawn has never looked "great", even when it came out. The atmosphere, music and overall feeling is spot on but graphic-wise? Not so much.

Even said that, it doesn't much make a difference if the game is an AAA-game or not. Sure, they have better marketing, but if the game is bad, it's bad. There have been multiple examples of this, one of them being Might Number 9. The game was/is terrible, it had a lot of marketing and it had millions of start-up money but now it's pretty much forgotten. Indie game studios can make a game that easily rivals to the huge companies, but it didn't happen with Grim Dawn, for reasons explained before.

But, again, Grim Dawn IS the best of it's genre and I can't can't can't wait for the new expansion.. It's going to be sooooo freakin' good~

Why do people do this? What does anyone care if 1 or 1000 or 100000 people are playing it? It only ever becomes an issue if the numbers are so small that the devs cant afford to produce content for it anymore (which is not the case here) or if its a MP game and relies on MP match ups its also an issue (also not the case here)

But for SP focused game from a tiny studio like crate 5k players at peak times each day is very healthy indeed, lets make a list of all the games that don't get that many (we couldn't the list would be to long)

Dont get hung up on worrying about how popular a game is, if you enjoy it play it and wait for Crate to release more awesome content soon

As for comparing to it Divinity 2 its like comparing apples and oranges.

Zantai said in a stream a while ago it was 13 then corrected it to 14. There are 12 listed in the GD credits so others must be helping with the new project.

Comparing Divinity with Grim Dawn is like comparing Cities: Skyline with FIFA. They are both pc games, that is correct, and you have fun playing them.

I think Larian Studios deserves more credit than being likened to an AAA studio (such a sad label these days, though I'd argue the studio isn't one to start with tbh). Like Crate studios they believed in a vision and their games had a market and had to kickstart D:OS1 to get working of it, and were struggling to keep afloat by its release they were taking a gamble and it paid off.
Their games too are passion products and they seem to take feedback seriously; I mean the D:OS2 being much improved and all and existing PC owners getting the version FOC. And they don't seem bigheaded and all from the success, along with the likes of CD Projekt Red, chugging along to make the next cool thing for us gamers without ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ across our faces.

Hope the same big things for Grim Dawn and Crate

Dont think anyone is taking credit from them, they have done very well but its just the OPs comparison is rather moot, its a very different genre for a start and they are a much bigger company with more funds and exposure and coming off the back of DOS1 so its a sequel to a well liked game already.

But yes they are one of the 'good guys' in modern dev terms in the industry no doubt about that, its just a bad comparison on many levels. Like saying well FIFA18 gets millions of players so why cant game X - Y - Z also get millions of players. Its just a silly comparison

How does calling an apple an apple take any credit from it?

Laran is an AAA studio. They are partnered with an AAA publisher. Stop projecting your own hang-ups Mars. Not sure exactly what issues you have with big studios and publishers, but ... I don't have theose issues, and made no deragatory comments about Larian. That's on your head friendo.
