Multiplayer for more exp and better loot?
I have been playing the game with my deathknight for 45 levels solo. Just wondering if more people mean more challenge = better rewards.

Yes. Probably, since more players make enemies stronger and lots of players drop their purple items because otherwise they get full like me. XP is bigger too because enemies are tuffer, loigically.

It's more like "more ppl, less challenge and hence = better reward.

While enemy HP scales (and I think it's not even linear) it doesn't take the "moar players, moar auras..." effect into account

very notable in crucible, but imho not so much in normal/campaign game - like sure the enemies have more hp and reists, but loot is personal and imho for everyone pretty much same as going solo. On other hand it is way faster and eg. rogue like dungeons very trivial in group.

And in general I would never say that overall mp is more challange - quite opposite.

This is always a problem with ARPG's. I feel like it's just intentional nowadays instead of just an overlook like in Diablo II maybe. The games become unchallenging enough, even on the highest difficulty solo and whereas I'd like to play with one or two friends and have an even greater difficulty and enjoy the challenge of maneuvering around and weaving around boss mechanics, but rather everything just becomes a breeze and is painfully dull.
Well in general the Topic about "Challenge" and "Difficulty" is pretty problematic to begin with. If i look at my Experience with Videogames and compare it to Opinion of other People, i often see how differently is. If you look at the Dark Souls Series which are commonly seen as challenging(and to be fair, i don't argue against it, it is pretty challenging, though in my Opinion it isn't nearly the hardest game ever, also not the past 10 year, but that's another topic) if i talk with my friends and online-communities which Game was the hardest or which boss was the hardes, except some very few examples where they share their opinion, overall everyone have it's own boss or even Games which they find harder. And also a Point which a lot of Folks tend to forget about this Topic, that Experience & Talent | Skill matters as well. If take Souls-Games as example, in general some of my friends which i played since demon's souls found Demon's Souls as the hardest of all Souls-Games, but than i have a few another folks who begun to play with dark souls, than after that start playing Demon Souls and found that Game, except some technical issues like worse hitboxes and such, in general easier than Dark Souls. Or an personal example: My older Sister played once Wind Waker and hard difficulty with some bosses, as i should finish a boss for her, i did it with only half Heart left. Generally (and i won't argue that as well) in the Zelda-Community Windwaker is considered as one of the easiest Zelda's off all Time, atleast compared to the other Zelda Games, but if you see how a newcommer struggle with an Game, which is considered by the fanbase as easy, it shows that the Game itself can't be that easy, otherwise my sis wouldn't have such problems with some bossfights. (And i want to point out, she is in general not a bad player... she was pretty good in Counter Strike back in the days, and she showed me the ropes of Hack'n'Slay specifically Diablo 2... and so on). Experience but also a bit of talent | touch for a genre can differ the experience with difficulty and challenge, and that's why i find it hard to generalize, though i would argue that Grim Dawn still is one of the harder ARPG's | Hack'n'Slay. One things which truly bothers me about this topic is the fact, that some folks who complain about the challenge, never played HC or can state that they played SC without once dying... because even if it's arguable how much death penality SC hits someone, if you atleast die once in such an Game with your character, in my opinion you can't claim an Game is a breeze and not challenging..

Also about the Topic with Multiplayer and Challenging, i would argue it's not an issue of arpgs or grim dawn per se, but moreover the general idea of giving the Game the option to enjoy it to the fullest as a Singlepayer AND Multiplayer-Game. And if you consider the Fact that Grim Dawn's Focus lies on the Singleplayer, it's obviously that Multiplayer will get in some way easier, due a good Difficulty isn't only about the Damage Enemies do or how much life they have, it's also about Gamemechanics itself. You can't hardly introduce an holy trinity (as example) if you want your Game to have an focus on singleplayer, because holy trinity encourage group play, which means the whole gameplay is centered around for you having tank, dd and healer. So of course, theoretically speaking they could focus on that, and if you play solo they tone it down to an level where this holy trinity doesn't matter anymore, but than it would feel cheap and the fights a bit generic. Well of course there might be solutions for that, but i'd argue the whole experience would never feel as good as an Game which focus on singleplayer and handcraft such an experience.

That beeing said, though i still find a fair share of challenging a good thing(and for me Grim Dawn can be challenging at times as well) i would argue anyway that this Genre, ARPG isn't about that much "challenging" to begin with, it's about to play with your friends for many hours, grind for loot and exp, explore the map and secrets, as well it's game mechancis and have a good time.
